Well when you have thin clients, yes its precisely that. No need for large platter drives and/or power cpu on the client

There's plenty more like that saying hard drives are becoming obsolete. It's more like hard drives are being moved from peoples' homes into datacenters, but they're still there.

They obviously meant as a consumer device.

The good thing about cloud storage is that we don't have to worry about any security breach, the cloud storage company suddenly going bankrupt and shutting down, or government seizure of our data.

Apple co-founder and real smart guy said this about cloud storage: "I really worry about everything going to the cloud." I think it's going to be horrendous. I think there are going to be a lot of horrible problems in the next five years."
