[Solved] MySql Requires No Password

Thread Starter
I was trying to setup a phpBB page for a Minecraft server. The first issue I was running into was that phpBB was unable to detect any of the extensions that the server had on it. To fix that I had to comment out extension_dir = "/etc/php.d" in php.ini. After that all the extensions were detected and I was able to continue to the next step of the install.

I use Webmin to admin modules until I actually understand what I'm doing in them. I created a new MySql user with no server rights and gave it full permissions to a new database. I have done it that way for a few other databases and users, and it has worked perfectly fine. This time logging in to the new user failed through the phpBB page. I tried changing the password a couple times and user and database and recreating them a couple times in different orders.

After I was unable to login through the phpBB page I tried logging in to the MySql server with the user that I had created. Using the correct password did not work. I then tried to login with that user and no password, it worked. All the existing users are still able to login normally, but new ones require no password.

Using Centos 6.5.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what might be going on, or what additional info I might need to provide? Thanks.

I found the solution. It appears that somehow I created an entry with no username. I deleted the missing username line in the MySQL database and restarted, and that didn't resolve the issue.

I then deleted all the users in the user database and readded them. After that i restarted and was able to login.

Below is a link to the thread that lead me to the fix.
