Budget Watercooling Kit? - Page 21

Mounting the res on the side panel is no idea, it will be too much hassle with the tube routing. I still think the best way is to mount it on the outside on the back if you can drill a hole big enough to fit your tube from the outside to the inside. When looking at my case and I have the r9 290, there would be no way to mount such a big res inside. While some say it will look unclean having the res on the outside, well what can you do really? It will be more of an functional thing than for looks, but if done right it will look nice I think.

Guess I'll drill the holes in the back when I get home then. I was only asking about the panel since MrBlunt gave me the idea to try it and it fit with room between the graphics card and the reservoir (not attached to the side panel but there was enough room that there would still be a bit of a gap between the reservoir and the graphics card if it were mounted to the side panel).

It was a nice idea, it just looks like the tubing won't let it work out.

The rear mount is not working. In order to get it in a proper place I have to place the bottom mount right above the PSU (and the tubing would have to pull off a 90 degree angle right off the bottom of the fitting on the bottom of the reservoir to make it back into the case) and the bracket doesn't stay properly in the top. I'm trying to come up with something about a half inch thick to comenpensate for the thickness of the flare of the side panel(so I can mount it vertically) but my dad thinks it will be too heavy (what I come up with) and if it isn't enough by itself then the added weight from the water will be.

I think you are severely overestimating the weightof the reservoir full of water. The screws abd brackets for the res are meant to hold that much weight. I really think mounting it to the side panel is going to create more problems than solutions in the long run. It's going to make taking the side panel off a huge pain. Have you put any more though into mounting it horizontally on the top exterior of the case?

Top Exterior as in where? Also the side panel I'm trying to mount it to is the one that almost never comes off. The right side panel (if you're looking at it the case dead on

But you'll regret it when you do need to remove that panel.

Top exterior as in right on top above where the fans are. I'd make an MS Paint picture for you but I'm on my phone so I can't for another few hours

That would require removing the top and exposing the usb ports on front. Inside the case on the top MAYBE but then idk where I'd put the radiator and pump, I was planning on putting the pump on the shoggy sandwich at the bottom in place of the toolkit

Put the res on the radiator. It will have minimal effects on performance
