Budget Watercooling Kit? - Page 24

my suggestion is to put your mobo, gpu, and psu in the case and find a spot on both the hdd cage and inside on the opposite side where the i/o panel is. many people have put their res on the left(i/o side) and on the right(hdd side) in many many cases. if it truely does not fit, your only options are to mount it horizontally on the top rad(inside), outside on the actual back panel(i/o side) or on the top(outside). if none of that hits your fancy, you WILL have to mod your case or use a different res. 90% of water cooling is planning. without proper planning you waste time and money.
yes i am blunt in my post but there is not reason to sugarcoat your options. it is what it is. you have to do what you have to do.

this has a huge tube res in a storm trooper case. i cant right off which res it is

Yes, unless you are willing to buy compression fittings and a spacer, the HAF 932 will be the easiest way to make it all fit, with a bay res and a radiator in the top.

@ PC: The problem with OPs build is not so much the main components but lack of proper fittings and tube size, making it in this situation impossible to fit in the stryker/trooper.

Actually it is 73mm between my r9 290 GPU and the hdd cage, which according to me should fit the tube res because its 60mm in diameter. But without angled fittings or a aftermarked top to the ddc (which will help alot with tube routing) this is a dead case. If the OP should run the rad in the top of the stryker, he can forget push-pull unless he mod the handle or remove it. I think tube res are useless these days, they take up too much space, space that is important in this context.

Spacer?

Also here are some pictures are how it looks now, haven't added the screws yet. As to the compression fittings I already have some lol.

Picture 1

Picture 2

The only things I can see to do other than the bay reservoir would be to get a new case from Newegg which would put me a bit further over budget but I already have to buy something else its just a matter of what. As far as PSU size this one is shorter in length than my old XFX 750W Black Edition by about 20mm.

Lol? I dont see anything beeing "lol" you didnt mention you had compression fittings. What I meant was that you would want to have a spacer if you would have fans mounted on top of the radiator as well, because it would help with the tube routing.

A new case will 99% not help you. Tell me, what kind of fittings do you have alreaddy? You have 90 degree angles? Stryker is alreaddy one of the best cases out there for watercooling, you just have to plan your build right.

I already mentioned which fittings I had in the post on the last page where you asked for the list of watercooling parts I had. I do not have any 90 degrees however, but I can get a couple if I had to when I order the bay reservoir. You link me to a spacer, and did you look at the pictures?

Okay you have the monsoon ones, but I refered to the conventional ones, nevermind. Yes I did look at your pictures. You will have problems routing the tube from the radiator up to the bay res and thats why I recommended a 90 degree fitting, so you will be able to have the tube like this, taking up minimal space.

Now you see why you need a 90 degree fitting and a spacer if you have the fans mounted on top.

Ok can you give me a link to the spacer and does it necessarily have to be a 90 degree that goes to the radiator port, or can it be a 45 degree? Your image looks about as tight radiator and PSU cable wise as mine currently is.

90 degree fitting:
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_346_997_1199&products_id=38653

Spacer:
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_346_997_1205&products_id=33073
The 50mm one will be better because 25mm might be too small taking into consideration your hose is much thicker also.

Or this:
30 degree fitting:
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_346_997_1203&products_id=30717
Here you can fit your monsoon into this.

Spacer:

Not sure if you need a 90 degree fitting since your rad will be much thinner and thus making the tube from the rad to the res longer. But you understand the way of thinking.

I Would have to disagree with buying used water parts. I mean dont buy a used water pump, but a radiator, or cpu block would be fine. I have a 40 dollar dual 120mm radiator from ebay that i have been using for over a year and its fine. Pay pal gives you a guarantee so you end up being fine either way if it leaks. Its not like radiators randomly spring leaks, you will be able to tell if it is in good shape or not. The same with the water block, or tubing. The only thing you couldent tell about is the water pump, which only last so long. The block, and radiator though could last really forever.
O yeah as far as reservoirs dont worry about that, and dont worry about using something else but water. I mean if you want fancy colors go with food coloring. Look at that big bucket i have lol that was like a 5 gallon reservoir and the only way it made it run cooler, is when i dumped ice in it lol.

So, you think I should be able to do it on the bottom of the case if I get a bay reservoir and the fittings? Are those the right size fittings though (I can't be sure since Monsoon lists mine as 1/2" x 3/4" not by a G)
