Guys, I'm not as concerned about which PSU is decent nearly as much as the issue of my cpu stopping the system from powering up

Not the power supply, just took everything apart and with just the motherboard, CPU and power supply the problem persists

New mobo and CPU is getting ordered tonight :\

I think I have warranty on both the mobo and the CPU, but I can't be weeks without the PC whilst they get rma'd

About to order a 4670k and Asus Z87 MAXIMUS VI FORMULA

Then RMA the old gear and sell what is OK. If something gets replaced I will sell that too

I suppose it would be as good a time as any for upgrades then. Visually, can you see any issues with the board or processor? Any burnt capacitors or anything?

Have you tried taking the surge protector out of the equation yet?

how much time since you received the set?

altogether or orders in a time and others before or after, or you ordered them at once?

Installed new cpu and motherboard, problem solved

Now I just need to try and work out which component needs to be RMA'd, and which needs to go on ebay
