Trying to overclock, change CPU ratio or CPU bus frequency

This is my first time overclocking and currently I am dialing in my 8320 to overclock at 4.4 ghz

Is it normal to have freezes while it isn't stable yet?

Is it better to change your cpu ratio or your cpu bus frequency while overclocking?

Very, thats why its not stable. Once it is, the freezes and bluescreens will go away

It's better to change the multiplier and the vcore, when you overclovk the CPU needs more power to stay stable! thumb.gifbiggrin.gif

Turn off Turbo, Turn off APM. Use the multiplier to set the chip to 4.0ghz and set a fixed CPU-voltage of 1.40V and a fixed CPU-NB voltage 1.30V. Run load tests to observe the difference in voltage at the CPU between idle and load (with hardware monitoring). Adjust LLC to reduce the differential to the least amount of voltage sag possible (adjust LLC down if voltage rises with load). Once you have established the most stable LLC setting, you can begin pushing for higher clocks or you can start under-volting to find your low voltage stability limits (which will offer a bit more insight into what sort of voltage you'll need for a particular overclock). When you run into stability problems it's either caused by too much heat or not enough voltage. Do not exceed 60C core temps or 1.55V, whichever comes first (almost always will be core temps that become the limit).

Always start performance tuning with multipliers. Only adjust BCLK for fine tuning later on as it will effect the speed of 4 different bus's all at once, which can make it impossible to diagnose where instability is coming from without a game-plan.

Okay, question number 2:



While running prime 95 I've come across two types of errors in one it says

error 1, warnings 0. Messed up on rounding from 0.4-0.5

The other error I got resently was

error 0, warnings 100

Also while running prime 95 I've noticed one of my cores is typically slower than the others and "fails" first.

what do you have you clock and voltage set at and what are your temps getting up to while running prime?

MY Cpu ratio multiplier is at 21.5 I believe, whatever makes it go to 4300mhz

and my vcore (the top offset one is at ~1.32 which equals to 1.41 volts and my temps are at socket: 67 Core 49.
