What is one of the first components inside of a computer to break? The HDD right? You could say the optical drive but for many people the HDD is the first one to break. Basically anything that spins seems to be the most error prone, which makes sense.

And which console lets you swap HDDs without voiding the warranty?

For me, a console that allows the user to replace one of the most error prone components without voiding the warranty is the console that I think is worth it. Even if the PS4 didn't have the more powerful CPU, I think the convenience factor alone would make up for this. Just think of how many times you or someone you know has had a HDD failure. Now imagine your console being out of the warranty window and now you have to pay Microsoft money to fix something as simple as the HDD which you could easily replace yourself if they would have put in a user friendly way of swapping.

It seems to me that Sony is more realistic with their console. They realize that people are going to want different storage options and that HDDs break. It is probably cheaper for them to put in a user friendly way to remove a HDD than it would be if they made you send the console back in to them for them to repair. Sure, not everyone knows how to remove a HDD, but that is what OCN is for thumb.gif

EDIT: Just wanted to add that convenience is just as important as power IMO. If I am spending $400 on a piece of hardware, my ability to use it without frustration is many times more important than simply how fast the games go.
