Not out yet. No. No. Not out yet. Yes.

I don't think anyone expects "next-gen" to look exactly like real life, or even like modern CGI movies. We're still limited to desktop hardware and about ~16ms (or 33...) per frame. The problem is, the jump from a genuinely "last-gen" game to a 100% "next-gen" game just isn't there.

Take Crysis 3. Yes, its probably one of the best games out there, but seriously; it's a LAST gen title. It was made with the PS3/360 in mind. There's no denying that; the console limitations are mentioned ALL over the technical documentation. Then take Killzone: SF, a game that was made from the ground up for a "next-gen" console. The simple fact is, Crysis 3 looks as good, if not better (actually, it's FAR better) than Killzone: SF. Then you can take Metro: Last Light and do the same thing. There just isn't a huge jump between games made firmly in "last-gen" time period and games made for this supposed "next-gen".

The "next-gen" jump was supposed to be massive; but it's just not. Games like The Witcher 3 look amazing - in fact it's the only game that I'm aware of (that ISN'T star citizen, since its PC only) that I could actually call "next-gen". Everything else is just a minor improvement.

So I just found this little thread http://www.reddit.com/r/GameDeals/comments/22q0a3/origin_watch_dogs_deluxe_edition_preorder_indian/ just thought I'd let people know.

Edit: I can confirm it works too. Pretty neat savings near 60%

Nevertheless it is making me consider ordering a second 770 for SLI

As PC gamers we care about the graphics, that is the main foundation of PC gaming; otherwise I would just buy a console.

Guys, that trailer looks beautiful. It is jaw dropping compared to the PS4 footage.

I guess it's just never good enough for some people. Sorry guys, but graphics are beginning to plateau. We've already crossed a level of diminishing returns where we need an immensely more powerful GPU in order to reach a perceivable increase in graphical fidelity. If the gameplay matches the level of graphics I'm seeing, then we are in for a treat on PC.

Figured someone would say that.

MGS V GZ. I screwed that one up. I thought you meant 'Phantom Pain'. I wouldn't call Ground Zeroe's a "next-gen" looking game. It's not really that impressive, and it's really tiny.

Killzone SF. Again, I would say no. The textures are fairly bad in a lot of cases, as are the models. The 'large city' scenes are particularily bad, when its obvious that any buildings more than 100m away are just cubes with a diffuse texture.

Infamous SS. Definately not. The textures are horrible, the LOD is horrible, the shadow draw distance (well, the draw distance in general) is very low.

The Order 1866 is SO far away from launch that anything could happen. It COULD look good (the leaked screenshots aren't stunning - they're decent, though), or it could end up being ruined like Watch Dogs was.

The Witcher 3 is really the only "next-gen" game listed. Firstly, almost all the trailers are in-engine (except the ones that are OBVIOUSLY cgi), and secondly, CD Project Red doesn't end up making games look worse than they do in trailers. On top of that, every set of screenshots has looked better than the last; that shows they're actively improving the working game. The crazy quality fluctuations in other games just shows poor quality, as well as the tendency to use 'fake' screenshots.

As for being a PC gamer - yea, I am. The only console I own is a PS3, and that's a dedicated Netflix/Bluray machine. The thing is, a mid-range CPU paired with an APU isn't going to create stunning visuals - it's just not possible. The simple fact is that no matter how hard anyone tries, games like The Witcher 3 aren't going to run at 1080p/60fps with 4k+ textures on a PS4/XO - there's not enough GPU or CPU power available.

Nooo. no no no no no. Just no; sorry.

Graphics aren't beginning to plateau; we've just hit stagnation due to terrible hardware (consoles). If/when people realize that developing for consoles will only continue to stagnate graphics and they switch to developing PC-exclusive titles, we'll start seeing some serious improvements. The current titles that are doing this (TW3, Star Citizen) look amazing compared to anything out there right now. The problem is, MS and Sony thought it would be cool/funny to put an APU or GPU equivalent to a mid-range PC in the new consoles (that are supposed to last 7+ years); you're just not going to get anything good from that.

I'm sorry but the console fanboy is strong with you and quite honestly it makes you look like a tool. All those "next-gen" titles you laid out (aside from The Witcher 3) all look like PC ports from MAYBE 2009. The Witcher 3 is the only title that actually looks like it belongs in the "next-gen" category, heck CD Projekt RED even dropped PS3 and 360 versions of the game because they wouldn't be able to pull off their game with that huge hardware limitation.

So yes out of all the games you mentioned NONE of them are next-gen in comparison to The Witcher 3.

All that said, I have owned consoles since I was a kid ( even had and played consoles that were made before I was born) and I will be picking up a PS4 at some point in the future because exclusives.

So all the The Order screenshots aren't stunning? Let's see, this looks impressive and stunning:

But this don't:

See why you're a PC gamer? The Witcher 3 is coming to PS4 and XONE too, btw. And hey NinjaToast, the insult was superfluous. I'd like to ask you, NinjaToast since your statement "All those "next-gen" titles you laid out (aside from The Witcher 3) all look like PC ports games from MAYBE 2009" was a bit risky, which PC-only game looks better than Infamous SS?

Thanks, I really try hone in on my insults based on the accuracy of each statement,

By the way, that picture of The Order 1866, is concept art, so gg.
