[CVG]Video: Watch Dogs trailer shows improved PC visuals - Page 7

I thought it looked great to be honest. The hype for this game fell off long ago for me so seeing recent PS4 and now PC footage has me a tad excited again. Now, do I get it for PS4 and play with my friend or go balls deep and play it on PC??

I know this is on the Steam store but can I assume it's still channeled through UPLAY?

You'd assume correctly, unfortunately.

That ball for example has a very low resolution bump map applied to it. Then look at Star Citizen, the ships (WAY bigger than characters) look great, their WIP character looks pretty good, the hanger environment looks great, their effects are AMAZING, etc.
You don't see concept art as concept art.... what? Well I'm done; Can't type anymore. I don't see my keyboard as a keyboard. It's some kind of Pasta - I mean, the red glow must be the tomato sauce.

Seriously though; google "The Order 1866 Concept Art". The picture you posted is literally the first result. It's part of an article called The Order: 1866 – Three New Pieces of Concept Art Released

Fine it's concept art. I don't want to talk about NBA 2K14, but it looks great, better than Star Citizen IMO. The crowd looks amazing and all the characters do too. I don't see the low reso textures on the ball btw. But maybe it's just me. Let's stop arguing please.

We've waited a long time for next-gen visuals, and most of the "next-gen" games being released just aren't, frankly.

Of course you guys are happy with those games. Crysis always had a crappy storyline and was boring. BF4 single player shouldn't have existed and it's multiplayer is still a work in progess 6 months after release headscratch.gif Thief's story line was complete crap and a bad attempt at a reboot. Seems like there's a trend with this site choices, graphics>gameplay.

Don't put me in that camp, I never liked the Crysis series even though I thought they had some of the best looking graphics on PC. I didn't even pick up BF4 after how BF3 ended up being, which i don't believe they changed any graphical fidelity (other than getting rid of the blue tint) from 3 to 4. And I thought Thief's graphics were alright but I heard the story/gameplay was very meh so I never bothered to pick it up. I like pretty graphics but I also like a good story and gameplay. xD

I already said to stop arguing, right? I'm not going to answer that. Let's just say I'm sorry for that, ok?

I guess it's just never good enough for some people. Sorry guys, but graphics are beginning to plateau. We've already crossed a level of diminishing returns where we need an immensely more powerful GPU in order to reach a perceivable increase in graphical fidelity. If the gameplay matches the level of graphics I'm seeing, then we are in for a treat on PC.

I felt the same honestly. Compared to what had been airing on youtube this looks like a massive improvement. The only part i don't like about this is it's very much becoming a Gaming Evolved vs TWIMTBP battle. Right now Nvidia has titles on their side that are of more interest to me than AMD. Batman Arkham Knight (i'm assuming), The Witcher 3, WatchDogs, are some. It will be interesting to see how the division turns out seeing that most Ubi PC titles are TWIMTBP or at least AC is.

Both NVidia and AMD do this. It's call business.

Well think a little harder and you will find your answer.

How would you feel about AMD paying game developers to use features that can run on Nv hardware for the most part but to deny them the ability to optimize those features?? And the game will also run slower in general because of that.
The only gaming evolved title Nvidia had problem with was Tomb Raider but that was because of their crappy compute performance but they had the opportunity to full optimize the game for their cards.

I find Nvidia and "TWIMTBP" more a nuisance now and just kind of...sad.

Considering all these next gen games HAVE to be developed on AMD hardware (considering all consoles from this gen and the last are all ATI/AMD except for one) it's becoming more and more apparent that Nvidia is straight paying off people to use their stuff. Pretty pathetic IMO.

It's really irritating...not just as an AMD gamer but as a gamer over all. Instead of pushing technology and innovation by developing in house or pushing open source physics and graphical effects developers and publishers would rather have Nvidia come in, do all the work to put their stuff in the game, and pay money on top of it all!

I mean, considering the next-gen is AMD you know a game...especially newer ones...are NOT really "The Way it's Meant to Be Played" but more "The Way it's Meant to Be PAID".

And don't see this as me hating Nvidia...they do what they have to do to get that "one up" on AMD...I'm more or less hating on the developers and publishers that ALLOW them to do this.

Look at Crysis 3/CryEngine 3...it has full on cloth physics...something I don't see Physx having any part of (something Nvidia would lead you to believe can only be done using Physx it seems). Open source, in house, GPGPU, Direct Compute, OpenCL, Havok GPU/CPU...there are so many choices out there instead of being tied down to Nvidia all for what? Money.

So yeah...with Watch Dogs I SINCERELY hope that TXAA and HBAO+ are the ONLY Nvidia only things in the game. Those I don't care about and really wouldn't consider them "upgrades". I can say though that with things like Physx I'm getting sick of not being able to have that stuff in my games because of greedy dev's/pub's. It's also why I wait til games that use that stuff is on sale. I refuse to pay full price for a game when I can't use all the features that are in it because I don't subscribe to a certain brand.

At least AMD (for now at least!) is using more open source stuff...stuff that can be used by all. Let's just hope they continue to do so...
