Personally I wouldnt be complaining about any PS3 games ported to the PS4 even if there are only minor improvements. There are so few PS4 games right now, Sony needs to expand that library fast.

And besides, those textures you posted of RANDOM art assets are STILL better than the assets used in TLOU "PS4 Ultra edition" for the foreground of cutscenes rolleyes.gif

There's a difference between cherry-picking random textures that weren't supposed to be seen at 1ft away (i.e. the masks of random NPC grunts), and textures that are FORCED to be displayed 1ft away (i.e. environmental stuff it cutscenes). In a cutscene, you have complete control of where the player is looking, and as such, you know which things will be closer to the camera. Those things should be given higher resolution textures/meshes/etc. than things further away - it just makes sense. However, random assets like a bush or a rock that's in a level can only be so high resolution; you need to load a bunch of them into memory at once. Even while I love high resolution stuff, a 40k poly rock with 4k diff/spec/norm would be insanely poor technical design. However, if that rock were to appear 2ft from me in a cutscene, as was predominately featured in said cutscene, then it would make sense.

Seriously, you should check out the amount of work Crytek put into making C3 look as good as it does:

Even Ryze, which wasn't even on PC had some amazing new tech go into it, that will make their next PC game look insane:

(Those are pretty big PDFs, and they're VERY tech heavy)

I wish crytek put as much effort into gameplay as they did into graphics and maybe the gameplay wouldn't have been so bad in all 3 games. Scratch that I forgot they did ryse so make that 4 terrible games.

Looking forward to it. Loved it on PS3 and will love it on PS4. One of the best games I have ever played on any platform.

That cutscene reveals how the game will look like in game. For the most part, the cutscenes in TLOU on the PS3 used in game graphics.

Honestly I never get why people say that. The game play in Crysis games is fine. More to my taste in 1 and wardhead but still. The story is kind of meh though especially in 2.

It might have used the engine but not the assets/lighting ect as the cut scenes where prerecorded. Besides on consoles even real time cut scenes can be very miss leading as they are also usually set up with special cut scene character models and assets, better lighting/shadows along with a lot of other tricks that improve visual quality/performance (tricks that can be used when the player controls the camera).

I read somewhere on the Internet that TLOU on PS4 would look like how the pre rendered cutscenes of the game were on the PS3.

I wouldn't expect anything more than when it says... its the same game rendered in 1080p. It will look marginally better than the original, primarily in the cut scenes.

Perhaps in the ball park but then again what do they mean by that. They are probably going to use the high quality cut scene assets but most of the stuff in the game does not have a cut scene counter part. I'm very skeptical that they reproduced entire levels with better assets (assets that would have to be made). I would be very impressed if they bother to replace all the textures and re work all the lighting.
