I'm very skeptical that they reproduced entire levels with better assets (assets that would have to be made). I would be very impressed if they bother to replace all the textures and re work all the lighting.

I doubt that. I think they will use original textures (which they had to dumb down for the PS3) + 1080p + 60 fps. They will also increase the AF and AA levels and maybe, just maybe, add a couple of new stuff to full-fill each stage. But rebuild each texture and create a new lighting system? Highly doubt it. I think what they are doing is making a "slightly improved version" of TLOU to sell the game on PS4 with the excuse that "It looks better, on HD". Anyways, I won't be getting it for the graphics but for the game itself. Never got to play it on the PS3.

agree. Looks like a PS3 game running at 1080p with medium texture settings instead of low

Run @ 4K with 2K4k textures, global illumination, high tessellation, high quality shadows, HBAO, 2XMSAA, 60FPS and you can have a word with Crysis 3

Yeah looking at it, it's not what I was hoping for, but is what I expected.

- Reflection of the car's light on the head of the guy.
- The rain drop effects.
- The reflection of the tree in the water.
- The details on the character.

The fact that the company that created ISS never put that much of an effort in advertising it's game with all the tech behind it like Crytek did, is a whole different story. It's an amazing looking game. Period.

Now that I actually have I:SS, I can tell that it is nowhere near PC games in terms of reflections and lighting in particular. The reflections are laughably low resolution, lights often don't cast shadows, etc. Lighting was really my main gripe with I:SS graphics, but time of day settings were excellent. It's nothing like Crysis 1 which looks boring and old without TOD mods.

The character detail is also reduced in gameplay and facial animations are... less than stellar... when not in cutscenes. They should be because of how far away the camera usually is with a third person perspective, it's simply not worth it, but it's still noticeable.

90% of this is beautiful game and environment design, it looked good on the PS3 (for a PS3 title), you can throw all the sexy AA/texture/lighting technologies you like at a game, but it's the design that will make it really look stunning.

Watching the vid, and not having played it for a few months, this to me feels just like the PS3 version, once you get passed the "urgh, JAGGIES EVERYWHERE!", you get so immersed in the story, graphics become secondary, as it should be IMO.

When they create Texture for games, they make them alot larger than the ones they put in the game.

Say they put 512x512 textures in the game, the original non-downsized texture is probable 4096x4096 or bigger.

This is because a downsized texture looks better when downsized from a large texture.

This means they can easily replace the low resolution textures with high resolution textures, as they look just the same, just more detailed smile.gif

Nothing on ps4 or xbox 1 looks good. Some good gameplay though.
