Need help laptop for under $500, light gaming. - Page 3

Tell your mom that she needs to give you an amount to spend and that you'll buy the laptop that is the best price for that money.
Tell her you can't wait any longer and that you need to choose the place.

You should look for a y400 if possible. Awesome performance for the price but you might be hard pressed to find one for 500

If you can get her to buy one from ebay, you could look at an Alienware m11x, i had one for 2 years, then sold it for my G750JW, but it was a portable and speedy little pc.

I know, I really need to get something for around 500 max. I saw a Lenovo for $499 with i3-4000m (intel hd 4600). Is this better than AMD 8550g?
I really cant go with the $530 (AMD a10-5750m) even if it has better specs, gpu, cpu and hdd wise.

Lenovo G510 with intel i3-4000m intel HD4600 GPU

Lenovo G505s with a8 5550m 8550g GPU

Both have the same specs in other areas.

I can't from ebay. They want it from amazon. Prices on those laptops are way over my budget. But thanks for the suggestions.

Here is my experience with an Acer A6-3420 with the 6520/7670. I was very satisfied with the performance after I did some tweaking.

Basically what I ran into was the cpu only ran at full clock for when doing quick operations (opening a web browser). As soon as I loaded it up (games) it would down clock to 1.5ghz. I had to overclock it to get decent performance out of it.

I'm not sure if this has changed with the new cpu's and laptops but its something to keep an eye out for if you are experiencing sub par performance.
