Welcome to OCN, if you can spend that much on a video card you should spend more money on a PSU thats better you dont need more then 550 watts

Hi Andy,

Welcome to OCN!

The things that stand out to me as *issues* for the build as listed are as follows. (I'm assuming this machine is intended for gaming, if it is for something else, then some of these issues may be more or less of a factor).

1. Weak CPUs combined with flagship GPUs will often result in under-utilization of GPU resources unless used in a high resolution configuration (1600P, 4K, or triple monitor). The FX-8320 is a poor performer in many real-time (gaming) workloads unless it is overclocked to ~4.5-5ghz, which will require ~300W. The per-core performance of the FX-8320 at stock clocks is ~40% slower than a similarly priced i3 or i5. This has a significant impact on FPS minimums in CPU intensive games.

2. The CNPS5X is no better than the stock heatsink other than being quieter. It won't allow any more overclocking headroom than just using the stock HSF. In fact, the stock HSF would probably perform better in terms of cooling.

3. The 600W builder would strain to keep up with the load of an overclocked FX-8320 and R9 290X, that's ~600W combined right there under stress testing, not including the rest of the system components. It's also not a particularly well made unit in the first place, certainly not the type you'd want to run near rated power on a routine basis.
