do not believe you.

Have you changed the Titan for 780ti (5% + performance on average) by paying a lot of money.

if 880GTX 4Gb will be at least 30% higher than the 780ti (likely), I bet I get two for SLI (EVGA Classified)

If a 780 Ti can't do that, or even struggles with it, your Phenom II and 760 don't have a prayer.

If the 880 is 30%+ performance over a 780ti and gets non reference models fast then I'll probably get just one then get 980s for sli.

The 780 TI supposedly running at max settings with 8X MSAA.

I'd only run 2X MSAA with my hardware and either run it at high, or a custom config of medium to high, I'm not expecting to run this game at max settings.

This article claims the 780 TI is running at max settings 8X MSAA 35-45, which I wont be doing unless I add another 760.

This Phenom II is getting replaced with most likely a Devil's Canyon I7, I wouldn't expect to run Witcher 3 at max settings. thumb.gif

Then again this is Overclock! LOL biggrin.gif

AA depends mostly on pixel size/density and viewing distance, raw resolution doesn't tell us enough information to draw any conclusion

1440p typically needs less AA not because of its resolution, but because its pixel density is higher (smaller pixels = harder to see the jaggies); 1440p@27" = 109ppi vs. 92ppi for 1080p@24" or 82ppi for 1080p@27"

The idea that increasing resolution lessens the need for AA goes back to the age of CRT where we weren't bound to a fixed resolution as the old tube monitors could do an excellent job of displaying 1024x768 or 1600x1200 without pixel interpolation. Obviously, a 19" monitor @ 1024x768 would have much larger pixels vs. that same 19" monitor running @ 1600x1200, and thus AA wouldn't be needed as much at the higher resolution when viewed at the same distance.

Well this is The Witcher 2 with zero AA at 1440p. Look at the tent lines. They almost too straight. Heh, a canvas tent should have some jagged edges.

but yeah...1440p spread over a 50" screen will probably need some AA if viewed up close. For most monitor sizes and desk setups I don't think it will matter much, though.

That was my biggest reason to switch to 1440p monitors, even with loads of fps sapping AA 1080p at 24-27" still has jagged edges that are noticeable to me at pc viewing distances.

That and I had saved a bunch of cash to blow on pc parts after my last deployment. I should be fine for several years, just need to get new gfx cards in about 2 years or so. I might need to switch off a monitor and run SLI to keep W3 at 96fps on High-Ultra settings. Maybe drop from 96hz to 60hz as well. We shall see.

I still can't believe what Microsoft has done with the Xbox One, even dragged Rare down with them by having them make Kinect sport games over and over, It would be interesting if they slapped in a 7870XT in their system, but no Kinect is the future.

Look at Project Morpheus, I'm guessing a fair amount of them will be sold as it's what people will be interested in and want, not the milked to death motion control trend which the Wii kicked off, even Nintendo's system is struggling.

I don't think any one is surprised by that. We knew the hardware specs prior to launch and safely guessed that this time around the new consoles were not goign to unseat the PCs from teh top of the food chain. I think the major complaint is that people were expecting them to run at 1080p with decent visuals and a decent fps rate. Yet even after they've been out for a while and developers have had some more time to squeeze some more performance out of them we are still seeing 720p and 900p resolutions.

Which maybe that is fine too. If you are watching on a TV 4 meters or more away...I am sure these consoles are fine. It is more the principal of it. Sort of like the feeling I get when I get handed a stack of paper work and I look at my digital calendar and wonder why it isn't an electronic form.
