[Anandtech] Samsung Galaxy S 5 Review - Page 7

I got mine yesterday...and honestly what is the big fuss...its pretty much just an S4 with a camera upgrade..Samsung really needs to do something different.
Just look at the HTC One M8..what a truly gorgeous phone...I should have rather taken that..Meh

That said I reckon my LG G2 is still the best device I've ever owned biggrin.gif

I never understood why people flock to Galaxies when there are nicer alternatives like the HTC M7/M8.

Also, I hate to be "that kid", but the iPhone 5s still has the best smartphone SOC tongue.gif

The HTC One M8 is better in every respect performance wise, even though it uses a Snapdragon 801AB vs the 801AC the S5 uses.

The M8 also lookes better IMHO.

http://www.google.nl/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&docid=kCidAkx25zGnbM&tbnid=SegQVGux9aPGrM:&ved=0CAUQjRw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.versusos.nl%2Fsamsung-galaxy-s5-vs-htc-one-m8-vs-samsung-galaxy-s3%2F&ei=31JJU4nbOYWX0QXg_YG4Cw&bvm=bv.64542518,d.Yms&psig=AFQjCNHonwUx3L8O8bem-mRsG2ibWP9snA&ust=1397400658587905

The M8 is also 10 euros cheaper in my country tongue.gif

Still, I'm getting the S3 for free because my uncle's contract ended.wheee.gif He's getting the S5 smile.gif

I didn't see any mention of its temperature. My S4 cooks up wayyyyy to much to be "passable"

They flock to galaxies for the same reason they flock to apple. Herd mentality.

They have to look at it technologically, get the CPU, GPU, APU you need. Look at benchmarks, realize you are getting yet another computer, not jewelry.

yes, inb4 "apple is good" or "samsung is good per price" but even that should be a technological choice. You get what is right, not what seems right abstractly.

Eh, I like the Galaxy line. I really prefer plastic over metal (my Surface Pro is metal, the back feels terrible is the morning, the cold metal on my hands). Though so many people wrap the phone in a case it barely matters. Caseless 4 lyfe

upgraded from my skyrocket to the s5 yesterday and boy oh boy what a difference. Now me personally I avoid skinned android of all flavors when I can the stock experience is just so much better. I've never been a fan of HTC their phones may look nice. but despite the look of the quality I can't help but have a bad taste in my mouth from previous experiences with them (all ended poorly, one made my girlfriend go back to apple) I'd like to think that I don't suffer from herd mentality so much as the last one worked incredibly well and I have high hopes for this one... Also my phones are in a case 24/7 the come out for a cleaning once every month or so but for the most part I couldn't care less about metal backs or anything because I'm not going to see it. I don't know I have an s5, a skyrocket, a tab 8.4 pro, and got my mom the s4 I guess you could say that I like samsung (I hate their TV's though), but it all started when I bought that skyrocket a little over 2 years ago when the playing field was vastly different. ( i bought the skyrocket about 2 months before new phone season hit bad move) Either way I'm happy with my purchase so far.

I don't know, I guess I'm just an anti-Samsung fanboy. Samsung farms the crops that feed the workers that builds the ship that carries Galaxies to the U.S. They manufacture LCDs, DRAM, SOCs, and more, they own their own mines... a company that vertically integrated just creeps me out rolleyes.gif

Don't get me wrong, I don't say all Samsung users are herd mentality or even that Apple users follow one. Samsung has good value for money and Apple has, sometimes, good quality that reflects price.

It's the big picture that is obvious. Most people have no idea why they buy Galaxy or iPhone.

They only know it's cool.
