Hopefully someone can do a proper ln2 test with the 290xs. I mean, you get all this equipment and you only run it on air/water? Except if they don't scale as well on ln2, i don't really get it.

Can we ban this domain from the legit news section? They write like a couple of children that must write something every 12 hours that creates empty e-peen wars between other children without any actual news offered. They even copy anything they hear from the most shady forums in Asia, from forum posts of speculation from anonymous nicknames.

In this case, they saw something with statistical value zero, and not only that, it's not even technically news, even if it wasn't nonsense.

Seriously, this news section should be reserved for news, not rumors, or "squirrel! statistically insignificant trash entered my radar".

I see it as more of a win for the overclocker then the cards.

As Alatar mentioned it's not so much the 290x is a better overclocker on four cards it's more that no one has done a similar run with 780 TIs.

Still a great run though.

One one of the comments you quoted is just an observation the user is making. He might be underestimating the clocks a bit but Hawaii definitely does not go as high as GK110 does, not even close.

But doesn't really matter, these sorts of results are what we see once enthusiasts OC these cards. GK110 dominates for overclockers.
Considering GK110 can get to 1800-2ghz on LN2, I'd say that it's pretty obvious for enthusiasts they are better. I'm still a bit impressed with the 290's. Would like to see someone push them to 1600 and bench them.

How is the card an underdog lol.

What an insane run by 8 pack, very very impressive.

Thread cleaned.

Can we please stay on topic, give factual information and stop trying to bait each other into arguing please?

The 3dmark hall of fame does not recognize any scores with tess off. It's hwbot that does.

The source article links are all to hwbot. If you want to see the scores, follow this link.

The guy must have binned a TON of cards to find 4 that could all run over 1300mhz. Even on water, it is extremely rare to find a 290x that can do 1300, let alone 4 of them. When I realized my 290X couldn't even do 1150 with water cooling (under 50C) and 1.4v, I decided to take a break from AMD cards for a while. Then I go out and get my first Nvidia card ever, a 780 Ti Classy, and it benches at 1450Mhz, and can game at 1267Mhz with only 1.21v. I know just one person's experience means nothing in the grand scheme of things, but just looking around OCN, it seems a ton of 290/X owners are having trouble getting past even 1200Mhz with ridiculous amounts of voltage.

He said that he didint bin any card on ocuk.He said single gpu he can do 1400 on water. Most lightnings can do 1200-1250 on air. I know 3 people that did over 1320 with ref 290x. Tsm ,jomama and the other is banned. Hawaii doesnt oc as high as gk110.Now you got a dud its not the first time or the last.
