[Help] Will this LED solution work?

Thread Starter
I've never messed with LED's before. I have a plan for how I want to do them in my upcoming build, but I want to ask the kind folks of OCN to tell me if it will work smile.gif

I think i can plug 4 of these LED strips with 3-pin cables:
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/22594/lit-390/DarkSide_Dimmable_12_LED_Strip_-_UV_-_Black_Sleeved_w_3pin_.html?id=iRC587vs&mv_pc=3012

Into this 3-pin Power Distribution PCB:
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/14662/ele-988/3-Pin_Power_Distribution_PCB_5xWay_Block_MMT-PCB-5WAY.html?tl=g47c121s424&id=iRC587vs&mv_pc=2334

And use a female-to-female 3-pin extension to plug the above PCB into one of the channels on my fan controller, which is the Lamptron 5 v2. Each channel is rated at 30w. The fan controller will also be powering 10 fans, spread across the other 3 channels (4, 4, and 2).

Will that work? If so, awesome! I'd be able to use my fan controller to dim the LED's, wouldn't I? Can the fan controller's 4-pin MOLEX plugged into the PSU power all 10 fans and 4 LED strips?

Yes that will work fine, however the same effect could be achieved at a much lower cost if you or someone you know can solder and you have access to a soldering iron... I did it for my case, hooked some LEDs to a button and a fan connector and it was very easy despite having not soldered in a few years. This is the tutorial I used, unfortunately the pictures aren't working but still worth a read through and I'm sure something similar can be found elsewhere online.

EDIT: Also, it may not be the case for you but my mobo didn't like supplying the power to the LEDs and so I used a molex powered fan splitter to bypass this.

I don't have a soldering iron, or know anyone who does. I'm glad that it will work without soldering though.

I'm planning on plugging it into my fan controller, which is "fueled" by 1 molex connector. That would be fine, right? None of it will be plugged into the Mobo as far as i understand. I've never used a fan controller before. I don't think anything from the fan controller ends up plugged into the mobo at all.

Yes it will work fine. You may be okay using your mobo headers, mine was just awkward! Have fun with the LEDs!
