Two graphics cards and VRAM

Hi all!
I have overclocked GTX 570 graphics card with 1280mb vram. For all games that I play it's enough (smooth gameplay and "High/Ultra" with 60+fps), however not for my graphical-modded Skyrim (it needs about 1400mb vram).

So because of that I have two questions:
1.If I have second old graphic card (9600gt with 512mb vram). I plug it without SLI of course to my PCI slot , will my total VRAM increase to 1280+512=1792mb? I mean - "wil my game use vram from second graphic card if I connect it without SLI".
I'm know that I can use second graphic card for e.g. Physx (without SLI) but I'm not interested in this the more that Skyrim doesn't use it.

2. If I'll theoretically buy second gtx 570 and will link them to SLI, does my total vram increase?

I did my best, but I couldn't find the answer for it in the google. I hope you'll help me.

Best regards smile.gif

No, your VRam doesn't increase. Also, you can't(from what I know) SLI 2 different cards. Lets say you have 2 GTX 570s with 1280mb each.

It would be

GTX 570 1280 MB + GTX 570 1280 MB = SLI GTX 570 1280 MB.

VRAM doesn't get combined.

I know this fact, therefore as I wrote I wanted to connect them without SLI.

Ehhh, it's not good to hear. I thought it would works.... Technically it would. It's really stupid about SLI. I don't need more computing power only increase amount of VRAM.

Thank you for fast answer.
