CM HAF X Case and it cables

Thread Starter
Hi,
Could someone please help out a newbie. I have a CM HAF X case into which I installed a Z87X-UD5H motherboard. Everything worked out well until the end when it came to plugging in the cables into the motherboard.

The cable colours were not the same as indicated in the manual; The manual said make sure to, example here - put the blue cable on the positive - the problem was, there was NO blue cable there!! The only thing I could figure out was, after looking at the connectors, I saw that there was a little arrow at one end, pointing down. I took this to mean that this was the end/cable that should be plugged into the positive end of the connection.

My other problem is that I have a cable and I don't know where it belongs. It is attached to the front panel but the placement of it, makes it impossible to see where it is attached without breaking the panel. The cable is a twisted pair, red and black, ending in two pins, with a white plastic guiding connector. The two pins are not in-cased in a block, the guiding part is, literally, a sliver of plastic, extending, not quite the full length of the two pins.

I cannot find in the manual nor on the CM site, what this cable is for nor is there, unlike the other cables in the case, any type of marking or name printed on the cable to tell the installer what it's for.

Help please.

Thanks.

that one? or this maybe:

the second one looks like it connects to the fan, maybe the fan LED? you might have some luck asking in the HAF owners club.

Pic of the end of the cable?

What is not hooked up yet? That sounds like it could be a Reset Switch, HDD LED, or maybe even the main power switch....

If the second one is the connector to the fan, what could the first one be for?

As promised the update. The red and black cable was indeed the fan led. Thank you very much for that.

Any advice on the small arrow on the connectors of the cables, whether they indicate that that is the positive (+) side and so that's how the connector need to be lined up to make the proper connection?

I have a pic here to show what I mean.

I hooked all the other cables up and this was the last one. Unlike the other cables, they had writing on the connectors saying what they wetter, i.e., USB, Speaker, etc, this cable didn't.

sorry, don't know which one that is. i'd think by now either CM or one of our members would have put together a comprehensive guide on these as if you search you'll find this is a fairly common cause of confusion on the HAF 922 and HAF X.

Turns out it's the power cable for the front fan.

The little "arrow" , "triangle" on connectors is generally denoting the + (positive) pin
