Hey guys. Iv'e got some dvd copies of some of my movies that i burned with DVD NEXT COPY. The dvds will play no problem in dvd or blue ray players. However, when I go to try to rip one of them with handbrake, or play on with vlc player, it wont work. Does anyone know why this is happening? I've tried searching everywhere to figure this out. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Try to use VLC 2.1.0 Rincewind; I know I had problems playing certain files in 2.1.3 Two flower and higher.

OK, I just checked what version I have at home that doesn't have issues playing all the files I threw at it. It's version 2.0.8 Twoflower (I confirmed it via help then about), which is weird because the newest version 2.3.1 is Twoflower as well!

In any case 2.0.8 is the version which I've left, because it plays everything which 2.3.1 had certain issues with(at least for me)!

I thought I already have v 2.0.8. But ill check when i get home. Also after I did some digging, I found out that the codec used for these dvds is
MPEG-PS. The software I used to make these copies was an older software, and it seems like even after installing Full K-lite I still cant make anything read these discs on my media server. However, I did create my own work around for this issue. I put the discs into the computer that still has that old dvd burning software, read the disc, then create an .iso file from the disc. And since handbrake can read .iso, I can get it to work this way. Just takes a bit longer this way but at least it works.

It's good you found a work around for it!

Yeah, maybe if you get a newer software when copying DVD's (I'm sure there are free ones out there) it would make your life easier. Can't you just copy the DVD using image burn (dvd to ISO)? That would be the easiest and most painless I would think!

That is what im doing now to get it onto my media server. I copy it to iso onto an external HDD, then once said movies are done I plug the hdd into my media server and rip using handbrake. But yea im probably gonna use a newer software from now on. Ive been using this software for 10 years lol.
