really bad ping

Thread Starter
hey folks,

I live in the woods and it's pretty hard to get a good internet provider here in my area.
I have a REALLY bad ping when i play online games (900ms ish)
my question: would it help if i buy a good router? or can you give me any advice to get a good ping?

because it's really frustrating.

yea but i don't pay that much so that would be my last option

because my download is pretty good actually, it's just the ping that really sucks

A router most likely won't help you here.

Let me guess, you're using Satellite?
If so, you're stuck with that kind of ping until you get a cable wired to your house. Satellite is actually quite awesome, and works perfect for TV but is really crappy for interactive things like gaming due to the ping. Even with good satellite internet, you'll always see high pings just due to the way it works.

Sounds like you are stuck then. You might be able to get something like a t1 from the Telco but it would be really expensive

Sorry but you're basically screwed. You might be able to shave off a ms or two with a good router....but obviously that's peanuts here.
