[Sorted] Keefox or Lastpass? Or maybe something else is better for Password management?

Edit: Thanks for all the help. I am using KeePass and liking it thumb.gif

Hey guys. With this recent "Heartbleed" bug thing. It got me thinking that I should really mix up my passwords more than I already do. And start using much more random and secure ones! Something completely random and unique for each site. So I'm thinking that a password manager is now the way forward for this.

I want something that I can easily use with Firefox and Thunderbird on Windows 7. I would also prefer something free for now, as it's more just something I want to test out. Not sure if I'll even like this kind of setup yet. But I'd consider a one time payment for a nice piece of software later down the line if it's really exceptional. So after a quick bit of looking around. It seems that "Keefox" is available for FF and TB thumb.gif Reviews look good. And it's open source, which people seem to trust more. But then I see quite a few people recommending Lastpass.

Do you guys have any thoughts on these two programs? Or do you know of something better?

Thanks smile.gif

I just use Keepass... works well, but I manually copy what is needed from it when logging in. I love the password generator it has. I don't know that it is better... as I have never used the others! I use it on IOS, Android, and several versions of windows without any problems. Easy to sync up files, and keep everything working.

I use Lastpass with a Yubikey as multi factor authentication and I can't fault it.

I use Lastpass, great for cross browser/device password sync. I tried Keepass but couldn't get the form filler addon/extension to work smooth, and syncing on dropbox I suppose is more risky that using lastpass anyways.

I bought the premium lastpass for the android app, one of my least favorite things is trying to manually do passwords like "DpTUM8fne9jt" on a touchscreen keyboard.

.

Maybe I am paranoid, but I don't want the ID / Password form automatically populated! I would rather do it manually.. only takes a few seconds. Convenience and security are often two separate things, unfortunately. I also have to login to Keepass everytime I use it (set it up that way on all devices with auto logout after 15 seconds) So that is an added layer of safety also with a secure passphrase.

Yes, I am lazy and have no money or anything to really lose. Never had a WoW account stolen, etc. I just factor loss vs convenience.

When I delivered pizza in the ghetto, I often left it running while going to a door factoring who would want my 1984 Chevy Van :-)
