Time to do some heavy reading smile.gif

You do SLI/CF for processing power, a single card isn't going to run any modern game at good FPS for a multi-monitor

Considering most games will be made for consoles your 3gigs will hold up for some time. I must say though, I've got my fingers crossed that there will be some system testing PC exclusives in the coming years, so 3gigs might not run quite everything.

Alright, thanks for the responses guys. Also, I posted this because the new ROG swift 120hz 1440p ASUS monitor is being released soon and I was wondering if I should purchase it or not because of this Vram issue. So, I should be good then.

I just played World of Tanks and Battlefield 3 (not sure if Battlefield 4 would eat more memory?)

I noticed that, both games did not go over 1200-1300MB of memory.

For example from WoT:

so, yea, what you guys told about 3GB and Games sounds about right.

I doubt that in the next 1-3 years they will make these games (that i play) that require more memory.

Thanks all! thumb.gif

uh i seen crap gpu with like 2gb 3gb 4gb you know for impressing people that know nothing lol the gpu cant handle 4gb anyways Zotac (ZT-60405-10L) GeForce GT 630 Synergy 4GB GDDR3

And btw bf3-bf4 in 1080p reach 2gb ive seen it myself on my g510 lcd with hwinfo64

I think the gpu will use the ram at worst but the minimum i says is 3gb

All current nvidia gpu come with 2gb or almost while amd stick with 3gb for most.. it pretty bad from nvidia

Guys...

AFTERBURNER OR PC-X SAYING 2GB =/= 2gigs actually being needed.

Look up "memory allocation". Some programs (games) will simply suck up as much VRAM as they can find, but IT DOES NOT MEAN that you are actuallyuutilizing what your program says.

My buddy has a 670FTW 4GB, so I have done this first hand, comparing it to mine... Both cards using my rig, my card wouldhit 1900+ "used" while his wwould show up to 3400+, but guess what?
My 2gig card, which clocks insanely well (in this case it was around 1420/7850) MAINTAINED HIGHER MIN/AVG/MAX frames, and zero stuttering.

Seriously, I think that next to "120hz or die" monitors, the whole "need Moar VRAM" is the most overhyped thing I see on the forum anymore...

Agreed. I've seen several comparison where a Titan with it's 6gb of ram shows a much higher ram allocated total than a 780 Ti with it's 3gb.

Ram has indeed become a marketing tool lately with the more is better crowd.

for shiggles I opened GPU-Z on my second monitor and launched COD Ghosts. I have two 1080p monitors. My 7950 3gb used between 2.2 and up to 2.8 gigs of vram with an average around 2.5gb. I have everything on like 95% of max and rarely dip below 35 frames.

I was looking at ether 770 4gb or 290 and I think a 290 would have better ability to fill that 4gb of vram. For high end gaming TODAY 2gb is not enough even with 1080p

Saw a thread about BF4 and how at 1440p it uses 2.1-2.2gb
