Z87 Asrock Oc formula IO shield not flush

Morning,

Just a quick query,

With the rear io shield on the mainboard, with the hdmi in on it , it has a little prong that sort of instead of going outside and around the connecter it sticks into the port, maybe it makes more sence with this picture. Does that tab have to be bent outwards or is it supposed to stick in the hdmi port.

No it should not be in the HDMI port, it could cause a short and ruin your HDMI port or possibly the board.

Push it outward, or break it off.

Yes im moving from my lian li case onto a fractal so i wanted to make things right, i will use some of my trusty pliars and bend it back so its not no longer in the port , but as you see it in that picture from a new unboxing thats how they design them

Do all the other pins on the shield have to be bent or are they just to make contact between the shield and the board, from what i can see the only one that doesnt line up is that hdmi in

The sound port ones you will need to remove those, and any others you can usually just bend them back just make sure they don't go into the port when the board is installed! thumb.gif

Looking at your picture, they have the silver holes that need punched out just like most boards come with.

For the onboard sound nah the holes are already cut out, its not the 3 wireless holes you are talking about? I dont have wireless so it can just stay like that:P

I bent the HDMI In back instead of in and let me tell you it boots and shuts down faster and looks like the keyboard wont magically turn the pc on again after shutdown like it did before

Hopefully I dont get any more weird messages in my bios saying usb ports arent working with that yellow symbol. Have not seen since the change of bending that pin back. Also it may of been from bad front panel on the old lian li case
