Fan Controller For Gentle Typhoon AP-30's - Page 3

I stand corrected.
I do have to say a minimum voltage of 10V is rather high.

I've been thinking that if I had to do it again, I'd get the AP-30 over the AP-45 I have.
But the AP-30 has way too little a voltage operating range for my taste.

Still, I'd be very curious to try that fan for myself.

They shift air but they are not quiet about it.

AP-30s can be modded to PWM and this is VERY easy to do. I am a noob at soldering and was able to do it.

Lowest speed I get on my AP-29s is 1100-1200 RPM and I believe it is the same for the AP-30s.

So when I purchase my fan controller what specs should I be looking at to make sure it will be compatible with both my GT AP-30s (and maybe a couple other fans in my case as well)

Any 30w per channel controller will do,I had mine on a FC5.

B Neg also gave some good examples of the wide range of 30w per ch controllers ...

Okay, now I just don't get it.
The AP-30 is rated 10-13V operating range, right?
And B Neg said he can turn them down to 1200-1400 rpm with a Lamptron 5.

That would be around 5V.....way below the rated 10V.
Sup wit dat?

So I went with a very simple fan controller as I changed my mind on the whole "price doesn't matter" thing (Lol). I thought about it more and decided to get a budget friendly fan controller as I've already spent a decent amount on my gt ap-30's.

I went with the NZXT Sentry Mix 2. It has a total of 6 channels all supporting up to 30 watts each. Pretty respectable if you ask me.

It's nothing fancy but I like the slider controls and its changeable LED's are a nice touch. I literally just hooked it up I'll let you guys know how it performs.

Thank you all for your help I really appreciate it and happy Easter.

@B NEGATIVE I'm very curious about that too. Are you sure your GT AP-30's are running at 1200-1400 rpm's???

If so I'll return this controller first thing Monday and get that same controller because that'd be way cool running these beasts that low. Heck I'd even be happy running them at 1500 or a smidge more if its more realistic.

Its not the controller that sets the min speed, its the fan itself. It will only go so far down the RPM range before it halts. This normally only is applicable to high speed fans.

But this 1200 rpm is only via PWM, right?
Or can you also get that low with voltage control too?
