700-750 watts comparison thread (fully modular)

Thread Starter
I get asked very often what is the best fully modular 700-750 watts PSU? so instead of answering that every time i am going to make another info thread well sort of.
This thread is for fully modular ONLY!

First off before i begin no i have not reviewed any of these units nor do i claim any credit for it, Its all done by Techpowerup so all credit goes to them. Since Techpowerup does not have reviews for every single 700-750 watts PSU i can only pick the ones they have reviewed which means the Cooler Master V700 is not in thread however sad that might be. And a model(s) is not bad because its not here
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Anyway lets be about it and start with the first one which is going to be the EVGA SuperNova G2 750 watts (based on the Super Flower Leadex Gold) and we start with some pictures of the platform and fan

Pictures of the platform (Click to show)

The fan is a 140mm Double Ball-Bearing Fan (RL4Z-S1402512HH) from Globe Fan, and its model number is RL4Z B1402512HH (140 mm, 12 V, 0.5 A). EVGA decided to use a cheaper fan to offer the G2-750 at a better price than the SF Leadex Gold 750 W. We strongly believe that most of you will agree with their decision on this matter.

Next is the EVGA SuperNova NEX750G

The fan is a 140 mm Double Ball-Bearing Fan (D14BH-12) provided by Yate Loon Electronics and it's the classic D14BH-12 model (140 mm, 12 V, 0.7 A, 2800 RPM, 140 CFM, 48.5 dBA) that is quite strong and noisy at high RPM.

The fan is a 140 mm Fluid Dynamic Bearing Fan (RL4Z-S1402512HH). The fan is from Globe Fan, and its model number is RL4Z S1402512HH (12 V, 0.5 A, 1800 RPM, 135.74 CFM, 36.7 dBA). The same fan is used by the Rosewill Tachyon 1000 W unit, a re-badged SF PSU. The "S" nomenclature in the model number usually stands for a sleeve bearing, but the label on its centerpiece is indicative of a Fluid Dynamic bearing. Globe Fan probably used an upgraded sleeve bearing they call FDB. Finally, a small plastic baffle is attached to the fan. It funnels air toward the rear of the unit.

Next is the Silverstone Strider Gold S 750 watts

The fan is a 120 mm Double Sleeve Bearing Fan (AD1212HS-A71GL). The cooling fan is provided by a very good manufacturer, Adda, though it uses a plain sleeved-bearing. We expected no less than a ball-bearings fan because the unit costs significantly more than 100 bucks. The 120 mm fan with model number AD1212HS-A71GL (12 V, 0.44 A, 2200 RPM, 85.2 CFM) can rotate at high speeds, where its noise output will probably annoy most of you.

Next is going to be the Corsair RM750 (made by Chicony Power Technology not CWT

Pictures of the platform (Click to show)

The fan is a 135 mm Riffle-Bearing Fan (NR135L). The fan is the same as in the RM850, and was according to Corsair built with silence in mind. It uses rifle bearings, an enhanced type of the plain sleeve bearings, and its model number is NR135L (12 V, 0.22 A). It really is very quiet at even high speeds it will hardly reach under real-life conditions, especially if the RM750 is installed in a case with good airflow.

Next is the Corsair HXi

The fan used is a 135 mm Fluid Dynamic Bearing Fan (NR135P), yhe cooling fan is Corsair's favorite FDB fan with model number NR135P (12 V, 0.22 A). It'll last a long time since it utilizes a Fluid Dynamic Bearing. It also features a silent operation, enhanced by this unit's semi-passive option and relaxed fan profile.

Next is the Corsair AX760 (non i)

Pictures of the platform (Click to show)

The fan is a 120 mm Double Ball-Bearing Fan (9S1212F404). The cooling fan (San Ace 120) is of high quality and is provided by Sanyo Denki. It uses double ball-bearings and its model number is 9S1212F404 (12 V, 0.19 A, 2.200 RPM, 70.6 CFM). Exactly the same fan was used on the previous AX750 and AX850 models, and there was no reason for a change since it did its job very well.

Next is the Corsair AX760i

Pictures of the platform (Click to show)

The fan is a 120mm Double Ball-Bearing Fan (D12BH-12). The cooling fan is provided by Yate Loon, and a large plastic baffle covers most of its area in order to direct the air towards the back side of the PSU. The fan's model number is D12BH-12 (12 V, 0.3 A, 2300 RPM, 89 CFM, 41 dBA). It uses ball-bearings for increased lifetime and is, at high RPM, quite audible.

Next is the Seasonic X 750 watts (Its the Seasonic KM3 model not the KM2)

Pictures of the platform (Click to show)

The fan is a 120mm Double Ball-Bearing Fan. The San Ace 120 cooling fan is provided by Sanyo Denki and is of high quality. It uses double ball-bearings, and its model number is 9S1212F404 (12 V, 0.19 A, 2.200 RPM, 70.6 CFM). This is the fan that Seasonic uses with all of their high-end models.

Next is the Seasonic Snow Silent

Pictures of the platform (Click to show)

The fan is a 120 mm Fluid Dynamic Bearing Fan(HA1225M12F-Z), Seasonic uses FDB fans by Hong Hua for their Snow Silent units, and this particular fan's model number is HA1225M12F-Z (12 V, 0.45 A, 2050 RPM). FDB fans are currently considered among the best money can buy since they operate quietly and last for a very long time, much longer than ball-bearing fans. This is a moderately fast FDB fan with a very long passive phase in semi-passive mode, and its relaxed fan profile will allow it to operate very quietly throughout.

The fan is a 135mm Double Ball-Bearing Fan. The fan is provided by Hong Sheng, and its model number is A1425H12S (9 - 13.8 V, 0.39 A, 1800 RPM, 97.2 CFM, 36.2 dBA). It has sleeve bearings and is quite strong, which then leads to high output noise.

The conclusion

Ripple suppression from best to worst (12v)

Super Flower Leadex Gold = 13mv
EVGA SuperNova G2 = 15mv
FSP Hydro G = 21,6mv
Corsair HXi = 22,8mv
Corsair AX760i = 23,4mv
EVGA SuperNova NEX750G = 24,5mv
Seasonic Snow Silent = 25,2mv
Corsair AX760 = 25,6mv
Corsair RM = 35,3mv
Seasonic X = 39mv
SilverStone Strider Gold S = 55,2mv
NZXT HALE 82 V2 = 62,6mv

Voltage regulation best to worst (12v)

Corsair AX760i = 0,29%
Seasonic Snow Silent = 0,34%
Super Flower Leadex Gold = 0,61%
EVGA SuperNova G2 and Corsair AX760 are a tie here at 0,76% and the Seasonic X is only 00,01% worse so all 3 are a tie
Corsair HXi = 1,02%
SilverStone Strider Gold S = 1,48%
FSP Hydro G = 1,46%
Corsair RM = 1,54%
NZXT HALE 82 V2 = 2,92%
EVGA SuperNova NEX750G = 3,76%

Add price up with ripple suppression and voltage regulation the winner of best value goes to the G2 and Leadex.
