Computer switches off - Never happerned untill installing r9-290

RIG:
CPU :fx-8350
GPU: R9-290
Motherboard : 990-FXA-UD3
HDD = 2
Pre-build water cooler
PSU : XFX pro 850w

After installing the r9-290 my computer randomly started shutting down. I didnt used the 6 pinto 8 pin wire they gave but I have a 6pin with a detachable 2 pin (one wire) on my PSU so I used that instead, could that be the problem?

I thought it was my new overclock so I put it back to stock. I has happens pretty much once a day, its only when I play a game...

Maybe its my PSU...

The R9 290 requires 1x 6 pin + 1x 6+2 pin connectors. Make sure you've plugged in both power cables into the slots below:

Im abit confused where you mentioned about the cables, you should be fine without using the included 6 pin to 8 pin adapter cable but what i want to make sure is that you have both the 8 pin and 6 pin plug on the card plugged in correct?

Yep, they are both in correctly. It has enough power but been playing games for a while. Maybe it could be my CPU temps as it is really hot today as seeing 41 degrees and all im doing now is using Firefox..

You using 1 rail that has both headers on it?

Or you using 2 rails each plugged into a header?

Back when i had a 5970, using 1 rail would make the computer shut off randomly. Had to use 1 rail PER 8pin/6pin

82 Degrees should be fine though ... Anything overclocked. Maybe it is unstable to the Point of restart.

If that's 82 Celsius, then it's WAY TOO HOT for an AMD FX chip. Check your cooler seating, dust in fins and rads, etc

CPU temp is high, socket temp is probably also high as well as northbridge because of that AIO cooler and lack of direct airflow over the board. Add a small fan (80-90mm)on your VRM/Northbridge heatsink and you shouldn't have any more problems, it will bring down socket temp as well.
