Sensible card for 1440P - Page 2

If you find a $350 R9 290 with aftermarket cooler then it would be swell. (If you're dropping money to watercool it then any reference card would do)

Otherwise I'd look into a GTX 780 Classified/Lightning or a EVGA GTX 780 to Step-up to a 6GB.

Too rich for my blood. Maybe a GTX 770 4gb?

You said you would look into used , right? tongue.gif

The GTX 780 Lightning and EVGA GTX 780 Classified were both going for ~ $450 at one point so you should be able to get them used for ~ $400

There's a bunch of them on Amazon warehouse for ~ $430 http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00E8PAAUS/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used

There's no point in paying $400 for a mined to death card when you can get a R9 290 Gaming for $420 http://www.amazon.com/MSI-Computer-Corp-290-GAMING/dp/B00HPS4AFG

Yeah the classy looks pretty good, what about the stock vapor chamber version?

The stock vapor chamber version doesn't have the thermal headroom. It also uses DrMos- style integrated driver+high+low side instead of the built-in-heatsinked DirectFET on the r9 290 and GTX 780 Classified.

The power delivery is unmatched by everything at the sub $500 mark ; the R9 290X Lightning is ~ $700

I did not find 290X Stock Cooler that loud with fan ~ 50%. This is coming from a guy that always using water cooling with fans @ 7v. Also the fan is not annoying with its speed up and down. For what it is AMD did a very good job setting it up.

I love the 780 classy but something about a $330 R9 290 is very appealing, especially with mantle in mind.

770? that trade blows with a 280X. go for the 780 or the 290. 100Mhz more on the 780 will match a 290.

Plus I am starting to think my PSU is not up to snuff for the 780 Classy anyways.....
