Thread Starter
Hi guys as the title states im having a hard time getting my 4770k past 4.2ghz.

Ive managed to get it stable at this speed but i have had to use a wopping 1.275v. Temps are fine and after running prime blend for 5 hrs it hovering in the late 60s early 70s.

Im new to hasswell and ive been out of the game a short while but i cant seem to get it stable at my target frequency of 4.5ghz.

My system specs are:

I7 4770k
MSI Z87GD65 GAMER
16GB KINGSTON BEAST 2400
MSI GTX780 OC GAMER OC'D @ 1150 core 6700 memory
SAMSUNG EVO 840 250GB
CORSAIR HX750W
CORSAIR H100I

Try this Overclocking guide by Darkwizzie:

http://www.overclock.net/t/1411077/haswell-overclocking-guide-with-statistics/0_20

There is an element of chance when purchasing the CPU... some OC well, some don't. And Haswell is a bitt different to clock, than a lot of earlier chips.

Keep in mind, a lot of people are bragging about getting outrageous overclocks... and even posting validations (and claiming they are stable). I would bet a lot of them were only "stable" long enough to get the validation, lol!

Yea.. Haswell is a bit different. If you follow Darkwizzies guide, you might be able to get more out of it.... if no other components are holding you back. I have had mine up to 4.6 following that guide... stable. But I usually keep it at 4.2 or 4.4 for daily use.

I am not the OC guru that some of the people here are... I just do it for fun, don't take it that seriously anymore.

Let us know how it goes! thumb.gif
