Ok, this will be my first build log of a rig, well, kind of a build log. Most of the hardware is already assembled, running, been that way for a while now. But I'm not finished yet, so I might as well start from here. I'll post up some pics of where I'm at now, and then more as I continue the system.

Current Specs

M/B : Gigabyte Z87X-OC LGA1150
CPU : Intel i7 4770K @ 4.2GHz
RAM : 2 x 4Gb Corsair Vengeance & 2 x Kingston Generic
GPU : 2 x Gigabyte R9 270X OC 2Gb edition
SSD : Samsung 840 Pro Series 128Gb
Storage : Seagate Baracuda 1Tb, Seagate Baracuda 2Tb, & WD Green 1.5Tb
Optical : Pioneer DVD-RW
PSU : Corsair RM850
Cooling : Corsair H80i, NB-eLoop PWM fan
Case : Aerocool XPREDATOR X3
Mods : Blue LED strip (I was originally planning on Blue/White, but then my old M/B died, it had a blue PCB, with Blue & White ports)

So as you can see, it's a bit of a mix of old and new, but that will eventually be changed as funds appear lol In the mean time, my vision for this thing is an Orange/Silver/Black theme (The MoBo decided that choice for me) and White/Grey on the outside, with a focus simplicity and elegance. That being said, it may not stay in this case, as I do find the CM Storm Stryker to be hella sexy, and I have some awesome ideas for it, but that can wait untill my next promotion. That's enough for now, so I might as well jump into my plans for the fruit in the upcoming months...

Ram : 4 x Corsair Dominator Platinum 8Gb
Storage : Replace with 2 x WD Black 4Tb
SSD : Another 840 Pro SSD (One for Ubuntu, and one for Windows)
Cooling : Full custom loop with PrimoChill rigid tubing (Exact specs undecided, pending a decision on case)
Case Mods :
  • Re paint interior of case in gun metal grey, with orange rivets
  • Replace front panel Led's with orange
  • Modify top panel to give more clearance for fans/rad if i decide to watercool this case.
  • If water cooling, remove front drive bays, and relocate to floor of case, fabricate drive covers, and re-locate SSD's to rear of motherboard tray.
  • Sleve and shorten PSU cables (Orange / Grey paracord theme, lace into neat runs, with plans to be able to put window in RH panel of case (If you spend so much time and love on the sleving and routing of the cables, why not make them a feature of the build also)

So as you can see, I'm not going to the extreme here, just enough to make it look purdy, and something to get started with, maybe the next rig can be a little bit more extreme, anyway, here are some photos of where the system is at right now, and I can't wait to get started.
