[GS] Watch Dogs PC "ultra" specifications revealed - Page 2

a 780 for ultra is pretty steep..
So they used a 3930K and a Titan in the Nvidia features video and it was still stuttering like crazy?

God... I was able to pre-order this for $30 but I might even regret that... Not only does it not look as good as the 2012 E3 video, I also just have a very strong feeling that it's going to be a complete stuttering mess just like Far Cry 3... Ubisoft has a history of totally not caring about performance optimization of PC versions.

I just have to wonder, they must be dealing with the stutter while developing these games? How can they work on a game like that? I find Far Cry 3 to be literally unplayable because of how bad it stutters, I can't even imagine how annoying it would be to develop the game like that...

DICE figured it out with Frostbite and BF3 and 4 are both buttery smooth on all hardware. Tomb Raider is another game that is exceptionally smooth, and Thief is pretty damn smooth too. Why is it so hard for other developers to find what's causing stutters and eliminate it. Nothing in the world of gaming frustrates me more than stuttering. I'd rather have crap textures, flat lighting, and no AA than stuttering. I still play Black Ops 2 just because of how smooth it is, despite being so ugly.

Not if it means 60fps. They didn't say anything about what kind of FPS to expect. If it's 780 just to achieve 30fps at ultra, yes that's steep.

Welcome to the real "Next Gen". Hopefully this pushes forward.

Because if its like AC4 it is only running on one core at %100, one core at about %50, and doing absolutely nothing with the rest. Although I will say that I thought AC4 looked fantastic, and so does this game.

ITT: People mad a game needs high-end hardware to run a game at max settings.

Conversely, if a game had low requirements, people complain it doesn't make use of hardware and/or isn't pushing boundaries.

Don't you love some PC gamers?

This. No matter what, people will complain.

I'll be happy if I can hold 30 fps with some eye candy, but I'm not one of those people that act like its slideshow under 120 fps. tongue.gif

Eh, it's two different arguments really.

If the game requires high end hardware because it's pushing tech boundaries, that's great. I'd assume that's what we're all hoping for.

If it requires high end hardware to muscle through a poorly optimized port, the disappointment is understandable.

It could have been any number of setups. It could have been a single GTX 680 and capped to 30FPS for the recording. It could have been 2,3, or even 4 GTX 680 if they got SLI working. Hell it could have been a Tesla K20x for all we know or it might even have been BS and not actually running real time.
