Yeah, why is upgrading essential? It really isn't. I want to see how an 8800GTX handles this, just for the lulz. With the sole exception of the PS3 and its Cell processor, if your PC is better than consoles now (so basically, Tahiti or GK104 GPU and a modern CPU), it will be better than consoles when they finally kick the bucket. I don't understand why people seem to think computer parts degrade over time. It's not like consoles can magically get more powerful, and they certainly can't run this game on anything better than medium settings + no/minimal AA.

One can only hope that with such steep specs for Ultra (Regarding GPU) that the game fully takes advantage of the hardware rather than being a poorly optimized engine otherwise that really leaves many PC gamers behind, with no good justification. We shall see .

I'll be interested to see if running the game on an i5 instead of an i7 makes any difference at all. I can see the game being heavily multi-threaded but I can't see it utilizing hyper threading...

In fact, it won't (95% chances). i5 == i7, without HT and cheaper. I bought an i7 because I thought HY would make a difference but oh man, I was so wrong. Not just that, sometimes it even negatively affects the performance (which is ridiculous I know, but it's true). I haven't seen a sing game pushing and taking advantage of that technology, in all these past 4 years. And since then I've really regretted my purchase (i7).

The list goes on and on. Its become more of a nuisance then anything else.

You should know though that it's all in vain since only few here really take what you're saying seriously. Everyone has a preference, and everyone has a different idea of what expensive and unnecessary is.

Ohhh also this:
You might as well save that 20 bucks and pirate the games. Devs are getting $0 anyway. Like this you won't be supporting those money sucking leeches that offer to rent games and are ruining the industry even more than pirating, since they are just a legitimate, guilt free version of pirating, thus reaching to a much broader audience than torrent sites.

Not that far ago I only dumped 130$ to get a hexa-core cpu (old X4 965 was able to maintain over 30fps but it was already running 95-100% cpu usage). Waterloop, additional hdd's,ssd don't count here because they aren't necessary to allow gaming on my machine.

I was a person just like you. I used to game on consoles. I have a nice console collection (PSX, 2x PS2 fat, 1x Ps2 slim, 1x Ps3 fat in parts,1x Ps3 super slim, PSP-3004,PSP-GO). I was even a pc games hater. But after installing a hd6990 I realized that consoles are simply not for me.

You guys clearly missed the part where I've compared the two and its a very subtle difference even in 1440p Ultra. I've experienced the best and imo its not worth the premium. PS4 is a very capable console and I for one am excited to see what the game developers come up with next as far as exclusives. Infamous Last Son is one of the best looking games I've ever seen. Right up there with Crysis,FC3 and Metro Last Light all in 1440p. This is coming from a $400 dollar Console in 1080p. Like I said earlier in this thread. Until they design and focus a "Big Budget" game on PC exclusively the gap between PC and next-gen Consoles will always be small.

Bitter people can be amusing.

You can play PS4 if you like. That's your choice. Maybe it makes you happier. Go for it. But if you want to call all PC users idiots for enjoying their hobby, then you're a special kind of stupid. Better graphics, multiple control schemes, cheap games, mods, vast indie game library, etc. aside, it's a hobby that people spend money on because it makes them happy.

And if you're mad that some games require Origin or Uplay, don't play those games. I don't. Guess what? I have some 300 other games on Steam and GOG and standalone to enjoy, I don't give a crap about missing BF4 or Assassins Creed. Maybe instead of buying whatever game is receiving the most marketing, and therefore being disappointed if it's a port, maybe you should look for games that actually have a community and good gameplay.

Finally, if you have issues with viruses in this day and age, then that seems like a purely personal problem to me.

You're on a forum dedicated to computer enthusiasts, telling people that their hobby is stupid and they should give up all of the freedom and improved graphics and performance they enjoy for the obligation to pay Sony for the right to use their own internet to play games. You have every right to say what you like, but don't be surprised if the response is purely ridicule.

Can we stop arguing about PS4 vs PC please...

If you like playing on the PS4 fine, enjoy it. If you like playing on PC fine, enjoy it. There is no need to argue and yeah, insulting PC enthusiasts on a PC enthusiast forum probably isn't going to get the best response.
