I would suggest the MSI R9 290 Gaming. MSI has good warranties (usually) and you do not void your warranty when you remove the stock cooler, so you can re-paste and/or water cool without voiding warranties. I have also read some stuff saying that the MSI R9 290 Gaming is just as good as the sapphire tri-x, but the MSI card is quieter because it has fewer fans. The MSI card also comes with a backplate, so it is super solid.

I don't think many people will want that stuff to actually use, I am guessing whoever buys it will sell any scrap materials they can get from it.

Dude, DO IT! I got massive performance increase just by upgrading my q6600 to AMD 1090T from 2010, and my q6600 was overclocked to 3.44ghz.

I'd get a 4770K now unless you're perfectly ok waiting at least 6 months for the next gen i7.

Believe it or not a Q6600 is still a very good processor.
It's not great, but it's perfect for what a lot of people need their computers to do.

Not quite scrap metal yet.

the devils canyon replacement is only 4 weeks out, and 4770k is much more thermally limited than 4670k unless you're delidding - you're probably stuck at about 1.25vcore on a 240mm CLC unless you have an exceptionally good setup (can approach 1.3) without averaging more than ~75c hottest core while encoding

If they cut 15c with this and make no other changes, it'd give basically everyone 100-200mhz

if that's significant to you or not is personal

Since you seem to be so sure of it, I have to guess it's been stated in official text somewhere that it'll happen.

Would you mind linking me something confirming the release in May?

From what I found on google, it all appears to be speculation. In my experience, that's a terribly unreliable source of information.
Seems very likely to me that one might find themselves waiting longer than expecting if they go off that alone.

Sorry i typo'd, meant to write 5 weeks for the 2'nd of july

http://www.overclock.net/t/1484111/wccf-intel-devil-s-canyon-launching-on-2nd-june-2014/0_30

I didn't exactly spend a ton of time making sure it was solid info, but it seems so.
