How to setup Fans and Radiators in 750D water-cooling build - Page 4

I've read on a couple threads about having to use a 20mm+ shroud when using Eloops in pull, otherwise you'd end up with a harsh ticking noise of the fans hitting the fins on the radiator. I have to be sure this is not the case because I won't be able to return it after opening the package. What do you guys think about the BeQuiet Silent Wings 2 in comparison to NF-F12s?

20mm is damn near the thickness of the fan itself. I could understand the blades protruding 2mm at the most, but no way 20mm

I'm pretty sure about the eloops' incompatibility with pull configurations, here is a thread that discusses the issue briefly: http://www.overclock.net/t/1289723/noiseblocker-nb-eloop-120mm-bionic-loop-propeller-fans/120

No, I know the issue. But 20mm would mean that the blades stick out the same thickness of the fan, which is just not possible.

When I install the fan "sucking" on a CPU cooler or a radiator it gets louder, why?

This is due to aerodynamics, simply increase the distance between fan and cooler to about 5-10 mm, e.g. using a distance frame (normal PC accessoires) and the noise will disappear. We suggest an inflating assembly, which is what the fan is optimised for.

Its got nothing to do with any sort of contact. Its just a result of Aerodynamic turbulence.
The blades do not protrude at all, just like any other fan. Radiator fins are always at least 5mm under the mounting shroud of radiators so there is simply no way that any fan would ever be able to contact them.

It is absolutely no myth that they produce an annoying buzz when used in pull or push/pull though. You can actually hold the pull fan with a clear and visible gap between the fan and radiator and as you move the fan closer the buzzing increases steadily before any contact between them. I also tested mine with 10mm of Neoprene spacing and it only made a marginal difference.

All right, thanks for the clarification guys. In that case, I'm definitely going for either the Noctua NF-F12s or the BeQuiet Silent Wings 2 for my rads. Any thoughts on those fans?
