Upgrading 2009 Build!

Thread Starter
So my sig rig is almost all of the original that i built back in 2009 but currently looks like this:

CPU: Intel i7 920
CPU Cooler: Corsair H80i
MOBO: Intel DX58SO
CASE: Corsair Obsidian 550D
PSU: Corsair TX Series CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12v
RAM: OCZ Gold 6gb (3x2GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) OCZ3G1600LV6GK
HD: 1 Samsung 840 120GB & 2xWD Black 1TB & 1 x WD Black WD6401AALS
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 1gb
Optical: Samsung 22x SH-S223L
FANS: 2 Corsair SP120 Quiets, 2 H80i fans, and then two others.

I mainly do Photoshop, some web design, Video Editing for YouTube, gaming and then the basics, such as web surfing, movie watching etc. Also, i do not overclock.

I was thinking:

CPU: Intel Core i7 4770 OR Intel Core i7 4770k (not sure if i need the unlocked version since i don't overclock)
MOBO: ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO Any other suggestions? i don't need anything super high end, but not cheap crap either. Maybe something in the middle heading towards high?
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 1600 or G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x4GB) 1600
PSU: Corsair HX750 - Would like something that will last and will allow for growth, possibly another GPU but certainly more HDD's.

What are all you guys suggestions. Thanks in advance!

You dont really need a new PSU that much you can keep your old one. On the other hand you could get a new one if you really want too

Would the PSU i have now be able to support more HDD's or 2nd GPU, maybe even both? Especially with it being 5 years old...If i do look to upgrade just to be safe, is the Corsair HX750 a good choice?

This will give you a clear answer what is good and what is not in that wattage range

I would go with the (K) version just incase you ever do get the urge to OC, plus it is only a few more bucks.
The Asus Sabertooth are good boards. I would also hit the 16GB ram over the 8GB, more 'future proof' IMO

EDIT: My buddy does the same stuff as you, PS, WD, etc and uses most of his 16GB 1866mhz ram, so I would recommend something like that at least.

Ok so if i go with the K does that mean it would last me another 4-5 years and then i could potentially overclock it to somewhat match what the CPU's at that time would be possibly?

Anyone else have any suggestions?

16GB is a minimum for Photoshop as it can use all the memory you have.

I would say that it would last you longer but I am no sure how much longer in total. If you got your old 920 to now I would think the 4770k would last you at least a solid three(3).
I myself went with the 3930K for my main; just a small OC for short term and ill do a higher OC once it starts getting old.
Also just bought a 4570K for a lan box that ill keep for threee(3) or so years.

When you do pull the trigger I would like to know what you decide to go with all together.

Going with the 16GB and 4770K sounds like a plan so far..

Will certainly keep you updated on what the final build out would be.

Now just need to know if the Mobo and PSU are actually any good!? Mobo seems good but is it overkill for what i do? Also, would like a modular PSU that could support more HDD's/SSD with maybe a better GPU, 650W+.
