As it turns out only the DisplayPort seems to supports 120Hz :S

Would something like this work?
http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00J5DPGFW/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=ce-de

This is what I had in mind. I think the DVI port only supports single connection.
Yes, that cable should work.

Damn. As it turns out the cable from the link above doesn't seem to be dual link after all.
Now I can't find a working cable, only 100+€ adapters frown.gif
Anyone got a link for me maybe?

I am pretty sure the powercolor 7870's all have dual link DVI. supports 2560x1600 over DVI.

Can you get an image of the DVI cable you have? ( mainly the connectors )

displayport to DVI-DL is going to cost waaay too much money.

or maybe just confirm from this image.

My cable definitely is dual link. Got all the pins.
The DVI port on my card might be dual link, but it doesn't support 3D/120Hz.
I checked the specs on the AMD side and only the DisplayPort section mentions 3D.
Can't imagine they'd leave out anything there product is capable of.

Wish I would have known your card wouldnt work with a DVI-only monitor model before I recommended it

I am still pretty sure your card supports it via DVI.

I guess I'll just trust you here and order a DVI cable that I know for sure works for 120Hz.

Also ordere this one:
http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00DJCB83O/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

No idea if it is dual link or not.
Maybe I'll get lucky and one of the two cables work smile.gif

The fact that the cable specs say DVI-DL, but state support for resolution of 1080P has me scared on the miniDP-DVI.

Not only is DL-DVI needed for 120hz operation, but also for 1440/1600P if I am not mistaken.
