Zowie FK 2014 only 1.5 m/s ---- new edition way worse?! - Page 2

I've tried testing to see if that "built in tape trick" was implemented to affect the LOD of the mouse but didn't get any results suggesting that it does, at least not for any Zowie sensor using a Kingsis lens. I'd say it is nothing more than a dust guard which is something Zowie mice could use with the way the prism picks up dust and fibers from the mouse pad.

I will test the mouse on my QCK Heavy and Artisan Raiden tomorrow and see if the FK '14 has the same low PCS on them. I kinda hope it does, because I want to keep the Deskpad, it's just too comfortable and supports lowsens very well. Also the new FK would kinda be a downgrade if it really has problems on some surfaces now which it didn't have with the 2013 edition. I still cannot believe it though. Now I'm really impatient to try those other pads, hehe.

Ok it fails to track properly on the Raiden on QCK Heavy too. Only ~ 1.5 m/s on all 3 pads.

So, I returned it and am awaiting a new one.
Thanks so far for all your help.

It's faulty, the built in tape trick isn't supposed to reduce the malfunction speed, it actually increases it and is also compatible with a wider range of surfaces.

Just because a few people have reported their mice as defective doesn't mean the 2014 re-release is guaranteed to have those issues.

it's the IR-LED which is responsible for what you write.
the "tape trick" can't do anything, because the kingsis lens doesn't let any light in the area, the "tape trick" could influence.

zowie should have taken the kingsis lens, without altered magnification(because the magnification itself isn't responsible for the LOD) and everyone would have been happy.

what makes you say that? because it's the case for you?

i don't think that statement is true at all.

edit: thanks povohat. my 2013 edition works properly at 1000hz and i haven't heard any complaints from others about 1000hz, either. i figured the 2014 edition would function exactly the same..

On the 2014 edition, it's true for me too. Never had this problem on the 2013 version. Tested at 2300dpi

1000Hz caps at 128 counts (~1.41m/s on single axis)
500Hz caps at 512 counts (~2.82m/s on single axis)

*math assumes 2300dpi is really 2300dpi

Using QCK+ as well. Just tried 450dpi and got caps of 25-26 counts at 1000Hz and 76-77 counts at 500Hz, resulting in 1.43m/s and 2.15m/s respectively. This is why people suggest 500Hz.
