Zowie FK 2014 only 1.5 m/s ---- new edition way worse?! - Page 3

Has anyone actually tried the new 2014 but removed the new built-in "tape track". Aka making the shell pretty much the same as the old version so we can test if the new infrared is actually superior to the old one?

That's still terribly low, mine has about 3.8 m/s at 450 dpi, 500 Hz (154 counts)

Nope, 2.0 port. Same port that my 2013 was plugged in.

On the 2013 or 2014 edition?
Seems about right to me though. Those other values posted by povohat look like his FK is a defect one or the surface isn't really compatible.

My numbers are based on a single axis. If I do a diagonal movement at max speed 2300dpi/500hz, it will read 4m/s

Interestingly your enotus output of 154 counts is exactly what I'm getting from the mouse at 450dpi/500Hz (eg: 77 per axis). My calculations are assuming 450dpi is really 450 (it isnt). I avoided using enotus for this because it can't show count clipping like mmr output does.

I'm doing single axis swipes, I know about the interference when swiping diagonally. I also confirmed my results with MouseTester which shows both axis separately. My Zowie FK showed pcs up to 3.5 m/s on x-axis, a bit inconsistent there though, sometimes it would malfunction at 3.3 m/s so that's what I'd assume is a save value.
I also measure at the real dpi value which was ~470 for my FK if memory serves me right.

EDIT: Oh, I see I said 3.8 m/s above, that should have been 3.5. Don't know what I mixed up there

I've tested it with the EC1 CL, the built in "tape-trick" had zero effect on the LOD. Tracking speeds were very much the same when both were placed in a previous gen shell. The only thing I noticed different about the IR-Led was it had a lower LOD when I tested both it and a previous EC1 in a normal EC1 eVo shell.

As thuNDa suggests the Kingsis lens Zowie use seems to prevent it from functioning like a normal tape-trick would so I'm still assuming it's just a dust guard used to cut down on the constant need to clean off the dust and fibers collected by the prism used on the Zowie lens.

Can someone post their max counts for each step so I can compare mine. Max values like 512 and 128 at native step cant be a coincidence.

450/500Hz - 77
450/1000Hz - 26
1150/500Hz - 192
1150/1000Hz - 64
2300/500Hz - 512
2300/1000Hz - 128

Well, the thing with the 1000 Hz being inferior is indeed true. Here are testings for my FK at all dpi levels and both 500 and 1000 Hz.
While 500 is vastly better than 1000 Hz it is still not as bad on both as yours seems to be

EDIT: I probably should add that my FK is the transitional one, with a 16 notch wheel and a yellow bottom but the IR-LED and the "dust guard" (I like that term)
