Yamaha RX-V375: PC to AVR to LCD TV

Hello,

New AV enthusiast here. So before anything... I'd like to give you the newbie disclaimer biggrin.gif

ordered a Yamaha-V375 with a pair of Pioneers BS41 bookshelf speakers. Could you recommend me a sub for around $100-200 that would mesh well with these speakers? One that coalesces fairly good with the AVR with minimum adjustment required, preferably.

How well would a BIC F12 coalesce with the Pioneer speakers?

The space for this setup is a relatively small living room. It'll be for movies, mainly. And I don't watch anything very loud (if that even matter any.)

I've heard good things about Dayton subwoofers (SUB-800 and 1000), which are around the same prices as the subs you listed.

Thanks +1

What do you think of the BIC F12? The BIC F12 is discounted on Newegg from $500 to $200. And most people have recommended it over the equivalent Dayton on the AVS forum.

I bought the same amp about 6 months ago. Also my first time moving into the world of home theater.
It's been a pretty good buy, had issues with the settings at first. Eventually figured out my various problems. Still sitting with one though:

Sound plays across all the hdmi channels except hdmi4. My hdmi4 is the only one I have free and it's the one I have running to my PC. Under no circumstances can I switch the inputs around.

Also OP:
I bought a PSB SubSeries 1 subwoofer. It's been great so far. Didn't come with the Y-cable for LFE though. Not sure what the price will be in your country.

And how are you connecting the PC to the AVR? Video card, sound card, motherboard, etc? Please include the model of the component as well.

Thanks

There are 2 connections being made from the PC to the amp.

One is HDMI from the top graphics card (gtx660) to the HDMI4 port on the amp.
The other connection is a red/white RCA to 1/8" audio cable that runs from Audio1 on the amp to my LG IPS235V monitor.

I;m by no means qualified to troubleshoot your issue, but I've done quite a bit of reading these past couple of days. And it sounds like it could be a hardware sync or "handshake" issue. Make sure you're setting up the bitstreaming via the PC to recognize the AVR as the display. Also make sure your GPU drivers are up to date.

I really hope I dont run into a sync issue. That was my primary cocnern. Thankfully, I've heard good things about the Yamaha receivers and ATI GPU's playing nice, so to speak.

Also, why can't you move the PC to another HDMI port? Just for troubleshooting purposes.

If I move it to any other port, it works perfectly. That's what I find so frustrating.
Nvidia drivers are up to date. Was wondering if it was just a sli issue.

It sounds like that 4th port is bad, then. Can you connect anything else to that 4th port?

Well, I got the receiver and the speakers today. I'm still waiting on one of the HDMI cables to setup it all up. Could you guys recommend me a pair of stands? The speakers are a bit larger than I imagined.

I was looking at an Omnimount. $60 for two, it's almost as much as the speakers rolleyes.gif

Just connected my htpc to it and got no sound as well. Does the sound play with video on your amp? Not looking forward to the hassle of returning it.

Those stands look great but for almost $60? Not so sure..
