Yes it can be. Its actually slightly reduces the cooling effictivness vs distilled water alone. Is it enough to notice not really. I have used dye coolant and distilled I prefer distilled for a few reasons. The dye will gunk up your blocks depending on the dye brand and make you have to tear down your loop and blocks to clean them good. Another bad thing is if there is ever a leak it can stain your parts, carpet, desk etc. Last thing is tubing, on plastic tubing it can cause it to haze and give the tube a cloudy look. I found that even Primochill Rigid acrylic tubing will get the cloudy look also but e22 tubing doesn't seem to get the cloudy looks. For those reasons I just run distilled water in my loops the only time I may use dye is is I am going to take pictures of the rig or going to my buddies lan center then I will use it for the few hours but other then that I drain my loops right back out flush real well and then put distilled water back in.

Just ordered one of these bad boys for 750€. Can´t wait to see how it performs compared to my current 780 Ti SLI.

Alright, I've concluded that it wasn't the driver and have fixed the system clock by resetting the bios and a clean windows 7 install on a brand new 840 EVO.

Rome 2 Total War
1 GPU is being utilized, temps in the low 60sC

Arma III
Both GPUs at load, 74C on both, 100% utilization on both

I am running 6,000x1,920 across 5x24 inch monitors with game settings near ultra. (vsync is enabled)

Are my temps a product of having too high of settings.

Are these temps worrysome? I just checked all the fans and airflow in my case is good.

I might add another fan but I would need to move my radiator to fit another fan at the top.

The best you're going to manage with the stock cooler is to stick a 2nd fan on the radiator for a push/pull setup and that will drop your temps a few degrees at best. Other than that you can do axiumone's VRM fan mod to control that fan yourself.

When you say GPU utilization is at 100% did you scroll down on afterburner to check if your clock speeds are throttling? Since its at 74C I wouldn't be surprised if it is throttling the clocks.

I will look, in the event it is throttling the clocks and I see lots of ups and downs in the chart - what should I do?

Like I said, add a 2nd fan on the 295X2's radiator for a push/pull setup. If that doesn't back off the temps enough to stop throttling then you really have no other option aside from putting a waterblock on the card in a custom loop.
Understood, is throttling of the clock bad for the long-term health of the card?

Oh no not even in the slightest. In fact the reason its underclocking is for the sake of reducing the temperature. In reality though AMD set the temp limit too low on the 295X2 in my opinion since these exact same Hawaii cores have a 95C temp limit in the air cooled 290X's so its quite dumb they decided to limit the 295X2's Hawaii cores to 75C just because they slapped some Asetek AIO cooler on the cores.

Basically its only enthusiasts like ourselves here that want to push our hardware to its limits without any throttling that slap full coverage waterblocks on these things. In other words you're just giving up a few frames per second here or there by allowing the GPU clocks to throttle. Its absolutely and without a doubt NOT causing any damage whatsoever though.

I think AMD should have set the throttle point at 80 - 85.
