Time for GPU upgrade. Need the most powerful Single GPU solution possible, price is not an option.

I got a 2k tax return and I am looking to dump most of it into a new GPU for my rig. Currently I am running 2 670 FTW's in SLI but I want to upgrade to a powerful single card solution because I am not a big fan of SLI as it adds input lag and stutter and other instability issues I am not comfortable with.

Anyways I digress, I have been doing some minor research and it seems right now that the best card for me would probably be the EVGA 03G-P4-3888-KR GeForce GTX 780 Ti Classified K|NGP|N Edition 3GB 384-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support Video Card

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487037&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&PageSize=10&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&IsFeedbackTab=true#scrollFullInfo

I was considering a Titan but I realised that a titan is not a single GPU it is actually essentially an SLI GPU in a single card configuration if I am not mistaken. Anyways I just want to get an absolute beast card that can pump out insane FPS because I do own a 144HZ Asus monitor so I actually can utilize the FPS even at 1080 MOAR FPS MOAR! Is needed.

My 1 concern I do have is will the card get bottlenecked because I am still on Sandy architecture which only utilizes Gen 2 PCIE? I have it overclocked to 4.5GHZ on a constant 1.3Vcore and I can increase it to 4.8 but it takes a lot more vcore. I have to go up to 1.37 to get a stable 4.8 OC so I generally leave it at 4.5GHZ. I would only be using 1 GPU though?

Do I have any worries? What are your thoughts recommendations? Advice?

I have never actually OC'd my GPU's btw but when I get this new card I do plan on doing so as from what I have read it is essentially as easy as OC'ing a CPU which is pretty straight forward..

Also I will be reselling my 670 FTW's to mitigate some of the damage to my wallet after I do pull the trigger on a new GPU what is a fair/reasonable price to ask for my 670's?

The GTX Titan is only a single GPU card. The Titan Z is dual-gpu. 780 Ti is definitely the best value for your money, so that's probably a better choice (especially at 1080p). As for PCI-E revisions, no card currently even saturates 3.0 - you could still get a good 85% performance of a 780 on PCI-E 1.1. What you have will be more than sufficient.

your 670 sli is stronger and faster than any highend single gpu atm. me thinks, so the sandy will do fine with the king.

the only downside of your current gpus is - 2GB.

edit: i suggest you wait for the 6GB versions to come out and the $900 gpu will go down to about $700.thumb.gif

Maxwell is due for release in the next few months, bide your time! dual 670s aren't holding you back much at the moment and it'll be so worth the wait for the 800 series cards, they're definitely offer MOAR POWA!

You think? Maybe I'll just hold out till the next iteration of CPU's and do a whole new build then? I guess I could do that. I really don't have a reason to upgrade my GPU's as currently I am still beasting all games I play anyways. Point well taken I suppose. Maybe I will just save up a few more G's and then I'm going to go all out with my next build and do a full custom WC loop and all that jazz, custom sleeves, all that goodness.

Absolutely, I think right now is probably a bad time to splash cash on major upgrades if you already have a capable rig.
With Intel set to release a Haswell refresh with the X99 platform and nvidia set to release Maxwell 800 series, it's a great time to save up funds for a few months and then blow it all on a super beastly, brand spanking new up to date rig!

This is the most popular plan at the moment. Intel's X99 platform with Haswell-E and Nvidia GTX 800 series are going to be here soon and everyone is more than ready. The first desktop 8 core i7-5930k is going to have DDR4 support too. Don't worry, you money will be easily spent. tongue.gif

Oh baby, just reading that caused me become aroused, the future is bright my friends, better put on some shades thumb.gif I have around 10k saved up that I am saving for a new vehicle/downpayment on a house. Still living with the parents and I make a decent wage with little expenses so I'm saving money like crazy at the moment. However I'm definitely going to drop a nice chunk of change down on a rig when all the new tech comes out smile.gif

It appears you plan on running the card on air correct?

If so, I don't really recommend the Kingpin or even the Classified.

Both those cards are super fast mostly because they allow more voltage than a normal 780 Ti. But you can't add much more voltage on air without passing what the air cooler can handle.

I had the Classified and was in this same situation. My Classy, at normal voltage, was about the same overclocker as my reference 780 Ti. So I sold it and bought another reference card.

Something like the evga acx superclocked from newegg.ca is going to give you virtually the same performance for $150 less.
