Lol, amd lives up to it's reputation with the drivers

Thread Starter
CCC just crashed out of nowhere when i was recording dolphin gamecube emu with msi afterburner when playing twilight princess in eyefinity.

And also when a overclock fails, the amd driver doesn't recover or reset the clock which was set after it crashes..

Now i get why most nvidia users hate amd's gpu's

I also had no luck getting PhysX to work. Well, I got it to work, but the performance was unplayable.

I had a 7950 for a year and a bit, and not once encountered any issues, even through the whole 'framepacing' palava.

I find the nVidia Drivers "stop responding" far more often than the Radeon drivers crash (for me anyway)

This makes me wonder something kind of weird: maybe this is some kind of "fate" thing. I have never have any problems with NVIDIA's GeForce cards. Then, the very first red card I try is the R9 290 and I had nothing but problems with it - even before installing my GTX 580 for PhysX.

I've never had much problems with either side to be honest...
I mean I would get crashes every now and then but that was more to do with unstable clocks (or crappy driver version) than anything else.

Owned two 7900GS's (one died, got it replaced under warranty) back in the day (2006 Dell Inspiron 9400 Laptop).
Rest has been AMD GPUs (6950s flashed to 6970s and now a 280x)

13.12 drivers are rock solid. Had nothing but problems with 14.4s though.

I get driver resets on a stock clocked 780Ti on a near-daily basis. It sounds like gaming PC's may not be for you.

I've had the 5870 6870 and now the 7950 , Never had an issue with them and I have ccc 13.9

It sounds to me like you have other issues. Driver resets are not a normal thing for gaming PCs. To me, any problem at all is a sign of instability.

With my two 7970s, I had nothing but problems for the first month. Since learning how to deal with those issues, none have ever recurred. It's been over a year now.
