wow you guys get gouged i feel bad for ya.
If those are your only options I'd go for the ASRock Board.

No LLC adjustment on that Killer board. IDK why they skipped/killed it. tongue.gif
Not sure what other OC options have been killed, wounded or missing in action on it. tongue.gif

I run an as rock 970 extreme 3 rev 2 board with my 6300 in my spare rig. might not over clock real well but I was hitting 4.6 easily.

the 4 phase vrm design is what I dont like though

Indeed I'm going to skip the sidefans..I thinking about purchasing the Noctua NH-D14 it'scurently in promortion for about 100 USD

Then the Asus M5A97 Evo R2.0 would be a better option. I believe it has a 6+2 phase vrm

My FX-6300 is sitting at 4.5 Ghz on a Biostar TA970 with a 4+1 phase vrm. They're such easy overclockers unless you get a terrible chip and terrible motherboard (as in a bad individual example from a particular brand/model) you should be able to hit 4.5 Ghz with damned near anything.

With the M5A97 Evo R2.0 he should get maybe 100 -200 more mhz with the same cooling. Plus other great features on the board. Its got to be the M5A97 Evo R2.0, lesser M5A97s wont do as well.
