update: found some trident X 2400 memory modules on sale for $85 -15% at newegg so i bought two kits. idk why, i like 16gb but i feel like i will never need more than that lol...

hopefully that opens up whatever bit of bottleneck my ddr3 1333 kit had on my rig, o/ced to 1600 but still ill probably be able to hit 2666 with this kit

should still be able to sell my ripjaws for $100-120 or so

ANANDTECH: MEMORY SCALING ON HASWELL

In short terms, there is no game today that is (or can be) memory-bottlenecked, as proven by ANANDTECH.

You are wasting your money on senseless/useless purchases. You remind me more and more of that MMO CHAMPION guy who spent $4000 to build the "120 FPS WOW system" and never made it.

Edit: Look here for fps comparison between DDR3-1333, DDR3-3000 and all speeds in between.

either way i was kind of planning on using the 16gb for now and maybe taking two of the sticks and using them for testing and/or an htpc in the future we shall see. they were so cheap for such a good memory module, with a great heatspreader, one of the best so i hear, and it matches my new rog motherboard too! i'll be happy with the purchase i just know it

Depends on Cas. I had/have16gb of c9 2400 and I know for a fact My pc runs better on 2x2gb or 4x2gb

same issues I have with 4gb I have with 16GB
its not the ram its firefox is what I found out

Anyways.. you absolutely will never notice a difference. Outside of 32M pi runs

I would have told you to upgrade ream if it was necessary..
having a huge tray of ddr3 taught me that ram is purely for 32m and CPU benching

Also in order to have sticks that overclock well you have to buy specific ones...

like the c10 2600 g. skills.. they Have REAL OC potential
4 members atleast have hit 2800 c9 with them

I think they were 150 a kit last I checked

Anyways RAM has no gains on modern platforms unless you are doing synthetic benches or basically rendering or non-commercial applications..

its the same story for anyone who thinks they need more than 8 or 16gb of ram
You will never use it with any consumer based application

I have had Pi, dominator, dominator platinum, ripjaws, ripjaws X, Trident X, Kingston Genesis, mushkin redline....

They all perform within a few milliseconds of eachother from c9 2800 to c6 1600 to c7 2133 the biggest difference you can get is 10seconds on 32M which you will never notice in any realworld application

Also I will make note that overclocking my tridentX was completely worthless went from c9 2400 to c9 2500 1T and literally had no noticable gain on 32M
Their architecture is worthless for overclocking

You would have been much better off tracking down some samsung green sticks. low voltage and fast. I actually noticed some interesting differences contrasting their OC performance with the g.skills and a few others and they really make a difference with their OCs...

I made a c10 2475mhz run with them that the g.skills even at c9 2500 could not come within 10seconds of

it will still be a cool kit of ram haha... for $25-45 extra, its not like im going to keep my crappy ripjaws series around.

plus like I said now it matches.

oh and from reviews I read I heard that the trident x series I bought is a pair of Samsung green sticks
