Does GTX-760 work with this MOBO?

Thread Starter
Greetings ,

My current rig:

MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
GIGABYTE GA-X48-DS5 LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard
OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W Modüler Power Supply
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 4.00GHz Wolfdale 45nm
OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit
ASUS VG248QE Monitor
Zotac GTX 760 2 GB
1TB Seagate ST31000528AS ATA device (SATA)
500GB Western Digital WDC WD5001AALS-00L3B2 ATA Device (SATA)
Cooler Master NV 690 CASE

I want to upgrade to these parts:

MOBO: MSI 970A-G43 ATX AM3+
CPU: FX X8 8320 Soket AM3+ 3.5GHz 16MB Cache 32nm
RAM: 8GB (2x4GB) RipjawsX DDR3 1600MHz CL9 1.5V Dual Kit Ram

1: Is it possible I can use my GTX-760 with this MSI 970A-G43 ATX AM3+ MOBO?
2: If I can use, can I buy one more and use in SLI Mode with MSI 970A-G43 A?
3: If not possible do you think I can use Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 with GTX 760?
4: Can I buy one more and use in SLI Mode 2xGTX 760's with Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3?
5: Any suggestions on MOBO, CPU and RAM?

NOTE: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 is sold 70 USD more than MSI 970A-G43 in my country.

Thx so much

a single 760 would work on all three of the boards.
doesnt look like SLI will work on the x48 or 970 board....the 990 board does support it though.

tips, if you are getting an 8xxx chip its best to get the 990 chipset and it fully supports those CPUs.
also, the UD3 has been hit or miss from what i understand, not entirely sure on this though.

i think you can run SLI on a non SLI board with a "hack" of sorts, but i have never done it.

In fact I need a board which can support 2 x GTX 760's in SLI mode in future without the need of hacks (I am bad at hacking) and can support FX 8320. Can you suggest a MOBO for this?

the 990 UD3 you picked out at the end would be a good board, it supports SLI. i just dont know if it has anything annoying that stands out about it...goofy bugs, etc?

i would check this thread, its the gigabyte 970/990 owners club, they would be able to tell you eerything you wanted to know.

For the motherboard i would definitely suggest ASUS boards over others for AMD because they tend to be more stable,if you have the money get the Sabertooth 2.0 or Crosshair V formula-Z(best for extreme overclocking) if not get the ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0(cheaper than other 990 chipset). All the above mentioned boards support quad-SLI and quad-Crossfire-X

Your CPU and RAM are very good (getting a better motherboard is very important for overclocking both CPU and RAM)
