A study from Advanced Cell Technology published Thursday in the journal Cell Stem Cell highlights how researchers were able to create embryos from the skin cells of two men, ages 35 and 75. Tissue from the embryos featured exact DNA matches with the donors.

Last year, scientists at Oregon Health and Science University made a major breakthrough with the first early-stage human clones derived from infant and fetal cells. However, the experiment drew criticism because early-stage human embryos are destroyed when cells are extracted from them.

This is it. The game is forever changed.

They tried to hold back the game.

But the game always evolves. yessir.gif

At what cost?

There is none. It's a win-win situation for everybody involved.

Nobody is going to take moral issues with using consenting adults for stem cells, researchers will finally get some breathing room to conduct their studies, and the advancement of this technology as a whole will benefit everybody.

Science wins.

Every advancement has good and bad implications. All I'm asking is that you remain vigilant of latter. You won't hear a peep out of me in that case. smile.gif

YES, it CAN still be bad. What happens when we learn full human cloning? When we learn growth acceleration? Do we start cloning soldiers for our wars? Do we start cloning our greatest leaders and letting them lead us over and over? Do we clone babies that were stillborn? Cloning is a MASSIVE moral conundrum, because there are SO MANY different potential issues.

All of which revolve around politics and religion, which can't be discussed here.

Now the science on the other hand, is pretty damn cool.

does that mean we should let people with degenertive diseases (like Alzheimer's, ALS, Parkinson's ) die slow and painful deaths? should we let people who have spinal injuries remain disabled? Sure there are potential misuses but that doesn't mean science should stop.

Ok, I guess I should just shut up and accept every advancement at face value without any thought of the consequences.
