If everybody was hospitalize the way the us army does with a wounded solider , nearly everybody would die of old age or disease , but nearly all accident could be fixed , except the way they do it is like 10 x more expensive , it s ok when it s the army for public sympatie , it wont be when it s for public health .
See the extreme some people are taken care really well in the same country were a good chunk of population didn't even have any health insurance until not that long ago so call that progress yeah

Isnt that the plot to Elysium?

Science wins.

The same people who complain about consenting women having an abortion will throw a big fuss.
Abortion and cloning are doing a near opposite of each other, but either way some cell is going to be killed.

But the way I understand this method, no 'potential individual life' will be killed. Embryonic stem cell cultivation is the simplest available, however does require a fertilized embryo to be 'killed' by diverting it's natural growth pattern into a human to be forced into a specific single cell type. This version seems to use existing adult cells and force them into an embryonic state, however that particular article doesn't go heavy into specifics, so I couldn't say for sure.
No matter what, people will complain. Usually these are ignorant people afraid of new technology and being led by a loudmouthed member of their flock. The simplest way to counter some of these would be open education on what actually goes on, but chances are those people aren't willing to listen anyways.
I am excited by this option though, because lab grown replacement parts and the like (heart valves, skin tissue... eyes tongue.gif ) will be more easily able to get funding for production.
