[AMD] AMD Reports 2014 First Quarter Results - Page 2

Yeah, that final payment to GloFo send them 20M in red but otherwise quite healty image by AMD standards. Their console revenue was lower this quarter but radeon sales were pretty massive (mining craze I guess). Not sure If they can sustain that next quarter.

In canada, since last week, the R9 290 and R9 290x are nearly at the same price they were about 4 months ago (just 50$ above MRSP for both R9 290 & 290x reference).

I wonder if this news has any link with the recent price adjustment.

Is the format of this post correct? WhereTF in the headline or article does AMD say
Quote:
AMD Back into the red with a $20 million loss for Q1 2014
?

We even have a so called moderator in here posting. If we're just allowed to make headlines up, I've got a few of my own to post.

Must admit I struggle to believe they have ever genuinely been in the black.

This picture below is cut directly from their earnings report on AMD's webpage. "Net Loss of 20 Million" It's clear to me as news. I wasn't aware we have to have a 3rd party website make an obvious title for a post.  I think you are asking who decides what can be named a "news"? GAAP and non GAAP are two different things of course and the most important is GAAP which applies to the bottom line. It's looked at as a "20 million loss", after all is said and done. Unless I'm wrong :)

What do you mean when it's all said and done? With the Non Gaap version they excluded their final payment to GF, with the GAAP they included that payment. A write off, or large payment of debt does not say as a whole how your company is doing. As an investor if you see that a company made a loss because of a one time fixed payment then that is good news. It would be like saying Microsoft was doing bad when they wrote off 900m for the surface.

It's pretty clear what the format for posting news on OCN is, and I have no doubt anyone that's been here more than a few days knows as well. The title was sensationalist, it could have just as easy read

Unless the title was changed it is posted correctly so why do you have a problem with it?

OT: It is still positive and I hope they continue to improve.

Well as I saw who posted, doesn't surprise me. But anyway, despite the loss they grew which is good news.

At least he is actually posting news, sensationalist headline or not. Unlike some past "news" posts from you. Maybe you should actually consider what is news, rather than worrying about someone else's formatting. I remember a certain thread that was posted in the news section that had to be moved to the off-topic section because it just flat out wasn't news. Its up to you to figure out which one it is.
