Yeah, for first build you might want to start easier, you can change your cooling solution later on if you want, I'd wait until 10th of may, for the new chipsets, then take a Z97 board and an i7. For GPUs I'd suggest a 780, and if you do get an SSD, a secondary data hard drive will always be nice, you will fill up a 500 gig drive faster than you expect.
1800USD is quite a decent bit for a build, so you have a lot of options.
