Worked beautifully. Boot list cleared good as new. Am running legacy with Debian testing at the moment but it was annoying me to no end those being stuck in there.

Something like an USB stick with the Windows 8 installation media will for example show up as two entries. There's one UEFI entry and one non-UEFI entry. The SSD will show up as three entries which are Windows, the Linux installation, and the drive itself (as Legacy).

What you see depends on what was enabled when the OS(s) were loaded too.
